makes a great read. while we're on topic of an all tiem XI, Simon Parsell must be in the top 5 of all time legends to have been involved in the club - top man!

Agreed - Simon's views on previous managers will be shared by many of us.

He avoided saying what he really thought of Garry Hill.

He's never been the big figure to the fans because he's not a player. But for my entire time supporting the club he's been a man you can associate with nothing else. If anyone is RDFC other than Max it's Simon, his programme notes are a must read and he has stuck with the club no matter what.

Just a heads up, after the strikers vote we will be looking for a manager for the Diamonds so I thought I'd save any debate till then.

Yeah great article, definately one of the legends of Rushden & Diamonds.

I remember one game, not sure if it was last season or the season before, think two players clashed during a tackle, and both physios ran on, Simon ran across, while the other physio arrived about 10 minutes later!!!... Simon was met with cheers from all the Diamonds fans.

Anyone remember that day?

What a legend and a great read. Should have a burger stand or something named after him! :D ;)

Agree with all of you, this was an excellent article. I also picked up on the lack of quotes about Garry Hill! Lets not forget that Simon takes on a lot of reponsibilities that go beyond his job requirements as well. He said at the end of the article that he might move on in the future but from a purely selfish point of view I hope he stays at the club for a few years yet and sees a return to league football.

I reckon that's a fantastic idea and I bet he'd love to open the Simon Parsell Burger Bar :D
