People on my Facebook page are claiming that the Wellingborough Whitworths clubhouse has been burnt down, with everything inside ruined.

Does anyone know anything? If found to be true perhaps we could hold a bucket collection on Thursday...

I have just spoken to the coach of the U11's team, who confirms this is true.

I will be doing a bucket collection for this on Thursday, so dig deep eh? I'll probably be coming around at half time as I'm on gate duty first.

Gutted for them, I was made to feel very welcome there and it was a lovely little clubhouse, just think of all the memorabilia and photos they've lost as well - so sad !

Just a thought but is the Sports & Social club independent of Whitworths the limited company?

Following a post made by the club of the official facebook, it has recieved this:
On behalf of Wellingborough Whitworth FC, i would like to thank you for your generosity, our clubhouse has been burnt to the ground but fortunately the changing rooms and playing area remain unaffected. We will hopefully be able to stage all of our games including a home reserve match against Thrapston Town on friday night, we just hope that clubs are forgiving with the hospitality areas that we can offer for now. Regards Julian Souster, Secretary Wellingborough Whitworth FC
