Policing Costs
Policing Costs
As we all know the policing costs for games against certain clubs , ie Luton and the Scum are horrific because of their track record so why not charge the supporters of these clubs more for a ticket, an extra 2 or 3 poounds would go some way to help with the bill
Re: Policing Costs
... because it's against FA rules to charge away supporters more. Remember the Bournemouth incident when we had to cancel a promotional offer for that very reason ?
Mr Ladak chooses to charge home and away fans more for those games - but he's reduced his prices significantly this season.

Re: Policing Costs
What Formic said.
I'm expecting Luton to ask for more tickets again. Could we insist on them forking out for a chunk of the policing costs as a condition for it? Unlikely they'd agree, but what are the rules on doing something like that?

Re: Policing Costs
Perhaps Luton might agree to something like that given their fans behaviour last season and the associated costs we had to bear then - and I expect we will incur additional police charges this season as a result of that incident.Mad Dog wrote:What Formic said.

Re: Policing Costs
Considering the reaction of Luton's board to the incident (brushed off) I very much doubt they would be so kind as to do the honourable thing.Formic wrote:Perhaps Luton might agree to something like that given their fans behaviour last season and the associated costs we had to bear then - and I expect we will incur additional police charges this season as a result of that incident.Mad Dog wrote:What Formic said.

Re: Policing Costs
Bearing in mind the likely police bill, now probably more that £18,000 since it's on a Christmas Bank Holiday, perhaps the Club will now be not quite so keen to maximise the amount of away tickets that they will provide to the Hatters. I would personally limit the amount to 1,000 and tell Luton that they can only be sold to season ticket holders and no fans with a history of misbehaviour.

Re: Policing Costs
All well and good, but I doubt that reducing the number of tickets allocated to Luton would reduce the police bill by the same proportion, meaning we would lose out on the gate receipts. And secondly, it's not beyond the wit of even the most moronic, hooligan scum to purchase tickets in one of the home areas which would only lead to worse trouble than we witnessed last season.Trek wrote:Bearing in mind the likely police bill, now probably more that £18,000 since it's on a Christmas Bank Holiday, perhaps the Club will now be not quite so keen to maximise the amount of away tickets that they will provide to the Hatters. Agreed. The date, in my view, means it is more likely that we give Lootun both the airwair and the North stand again! And I wouldn't blame the club if they did!davealbon wrote:All well and good, but I doubt that reducing the number of tickets allocated to Luton would reduce the police bill by the same proportion, meaning we would lose out on the gate receipts. Trust in Cousins to do what is right for the club, both financially and in terms of trying to keep the support happy. We'll all see the final decision and no doubt some will deride it as stupid because we could have made profit doing it this way or that, but none of us will be in posession of the numbers, the quotes for policing for each of the situations, which I am sure he will get, the expected home and away turnouts based on what is available etc.
My personal opinion, give them the airwair and the two blocks which are currently not sold to home fans in each of the North and South stands anyway, but designate these as family enclosures only, only let fans with kids accompanying buy the tickets. The police should agree that this would make their jobs rather easy in these places as we have no reputation, and if you are with your kids then you aren't going to do anything as a Luton fan. The only problem you might have is someone so desperate to get in they buy a kids ticket too, but they should stand out as being the only people there without kids.
