If the current Board and volunteers feel this strongly about the odd few idiots, then deal with it, you have the power to stop entry of these people, so just ban them and do a zero tolerance policy, put posters up to say its a zero tolerance zone , cross that line with drinks, feet, spittle and its a ban.
Expecting the fans to wag fingers at other fans will never work.

All very well but we are all fans, including the board and volunteers.Biggles wrote:

In any event the four that encroached on the pitch last evening appear not to be regular fans. In fact, I didn't recognise one of them and I attend every match home and away.

I have been to a couple of league grounds which does this, but can't think where. Anyways we should set up an anonymous mobile number that is had by one of the chief stewards. That way anyone who sees trouble/trouble makers can text this number outlining where in the ground they are, what they done and basic outline what they are wearing. That way they can be outlined and dealt with

I did indeed see that card - but it wasn't clear who it was shown to, especially from the distance I was from the incident, so rather than falsely award it to the wrong player I'm waiting to see if there is any official word. There's a similar question about whether Jack Wisniewski received a card near the end as well.Everyweeker wrote:This is probably best aimed at Formic:
On the match report, the only yellow card mentioned is for Freshwater, presumably for his shirtless celebration of the penalty.
However, there was certainly a yellow card after the award of our penalty (I remember it being given), with some suggestion it was Aaron King?
This forum used to be a really good source of information from people who were closer to certain incidents in the game, so by the time I got home an hour or so after a game at Nene Park, things could be corroborated, but these days only a few positive incidents get discussed (along with several pages on the negative side of things) - although BartonRaz continues to be a reliable source.

So you expect us to deal with this while we man the turnstiles, sort the car park out, man the burger bar, roll the pitch, put up the nets and corner flags, clean up after the game etc etc etc...........if anyone can think of any other jobs that want doing as well, please keep them to yourself 8-)

Thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye out. I'm afraid I didn't see the Wisniewski incident.Formic wrote:I did indeed see that card - but it wasn't clear who it was shown to, especially from the distance I was from the incident, so rather than falsely award it to the wrong player I'm waiting to see if there is any official word. In fact, to be honest, I didn't really know who scored our goals I was just so happy they went in

Sorry to maybe upset you but YES it is your job to deal with it, you signed up for it as a volunteer so as part of the Club or Board the you have to deal with the issues caused by others.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:Biggles wrote:If the current Board and volunteers feel this strongly about the odd few idiots, then deal with it, you have the power to stop entry of these people, so just ban them and do a zero tolerance policy, put posters up to say its a zero tolerance zone , cross that line with drinks, feet, spittle and its a ban.

I do know where you are coming from as i have over the years been Chairman, Secretary, plus a multitude of other committee jobs with youth groups, clubs etc,etc and as part of that you have to take the responsabilty and the take actions as you won't get much help, sorry but thats the truth.
So if you feel you and others have had enougth then step down, i know you wou'd feel guilty but put simply, its live with the hassle or deal with the problem or walk away. Simples.

No worries. I don't claim credit for the excellent stats pages on the website, but I do know how hard it is to get them accurate. We always used to take a big pinch of salt with the stats that the Perform Group used to put out on the old R&DFC Website, based on Press Association reports, and that's a reason why in the final seasons of R&DFC we had our own stats as well, which have been carried on and extended into the AFC R&D area.Everyweeker wrote:Thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye out. I can see your point Biggles, but I'm not sure you are exactly phrasing it the correct way.Biggles wrote:Sorry to maybe upset you but YES it is your job to deal with it, you signed up for it as a volunteer so as part of the Club or Board the you have to deal with the issues caused by others.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:Biggles wrote:If the current Board and volunteers feel this strongly about the odd few idiots, then deal with it, you have the power to stop entry of these people, so just ban them and do a zero tolerance policy, put posters up to say its a zero tolerance zone , cross that line with drinks, feet, spittle and its a ban.

I have no doubt the board know what they are putting themselves up for, that is why they spend hours and hours of their life doing it. All that is being asked is some of the more active fans (who turn up all the time, have a commitment to the club and are not just a 'floating voter' coming for the odd game) do some form of self-policing. That seems reasonable, we should be capable of advising someone not to do something stupid, or ensure we support a steward if it occurs (unless they throw Ian out again!)
;)
Considering all they do, I think that is a reasonable request! If they walked away, there would be no club, because I cannot imagine 10 more people coming forward ready to be board members and work so hard for the club. That is simples
