From where I was standing, Alex Deakin rose to head the ball cleanly into the net, but fell onto the Wellingborough defender as he landed so the ref gave a free kick. I think Redsnappers photos might show that as well.rudolph_hucker wrote:Why our goal was disallowed is a complete and utter mystery to everybody except the ref, who obviously read a different rule book to the rest of us.

Re: [ Sat 3rd Nov ] v Wellingborough Town KO 3pm UCLCUP AWAY
hello guys,
Pleased to get through after what was a long day!!!!
from my point of view I was more pleased that our lads worked very hard yesterday and worked together as a team. We lost very badly on wednesday as you know and I,m very pleased to see that the lads were very much up for the challenge yesterday.
Didn,t see the first half as I was cooking, but seen some of the second half and we had some good chances as did you guys, thought your team finished the stronger and we had to defend very well indeed late on, and probably Deaks goal should have counted, but thats football.
Someone on this thread mentioned about the ref being a Homie" that may well have been the case, but throughout the season you will get your share of refereeing decisions and bits of luck, they always even themselves up, so maybe yesterday was our turn!!!.
Enjoyed the banter yesterday, I was impressed with your guys how you do try to pass the ball around.
Look forward to seeing you all down here tuesday night at your home game against Raunds.
take care all

Wellingborough Town have their highlights up a bit before me, i think Pete is still thawing out. However it is very interesting hearing and seeing it from their perspective.
I think Deakins goal ruled out was harsh, but i have seen them given and Jack's pen should have been given, although i would have been a bit annoyed if it had been given against us!

I heard Wellingborough got all the gate money from the game yesterday?Three of Diamonds wrote:Performance and effort-wise it was ok. We do need to address what's happening in the opponents 18 yard box, as I lost count of the number of balls that dropped from the penalty spot to the edge of the box completely unchallenged by our players. I think we're over committing to the 6 yard box. Maybe Starms could re-watch the video and put something in place? I'd also like to see Newman playing the centre-forward role rather than being wide, we have to come up with a plan to get wide and round the back of the fullbacks, then deliver to the strikers whilst defenders are running towards their own goal.
Can't say I'm disappointed to be out of this cup, a good attendance that beat most in leagues above all the way to the Conference Premier. Also with the £6 entry, don't forget it's a 50:50 split between us and Wellingborough so helps us as well.
As for the referee well the biggest homer I've seen so far, had an awful game but generally awarded free-kicks to the Doughboys when they shouted for it.

Just been watching the footage, and Deaksey`s disallowed goal was harsh. I did n`t see him gaining any leverage off the defender, he was already airborne and collided with him.
Re the penalty shout, I watched it in realtime from by the dugout and thought it was. However, having watched the WTFC coverage, I think it was n`t, in fact Boyle-Chong`s tackle was very good, if a little risky. The ref made a correct decision
but sadly it was about the only one all game.

The home side takes the gate money, pays the officials and then pays 50% of the remainder to the visiting team, usually within a few days of the game being played. I spoke to the Wellingborough secretary after the game who confirmed the approximate amount that we will be receiving.diamondgeezer1 wrote:I heard Wellingborough got all the gate money from the game yesterday?
As per usual with these types of rumour, you heard wrong.

Why do people believe all these rumours?
You have the most transparent board in the country, yet people still believe other people who make things up............If you want to know the truth, ask us, you all know who we are 8-) 8-)

I found it hard to believe in the first place!! hence why I put a question mark at the end of my comment about W'Boro getting all the gate money.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:Why do people believe all these rumours?

If I hear anything else, I'll be sure to find one of the board members!
