It was my lad that scored the Buckby goal-he's seems to find it natural to score against you :P
I`m all for honesty Woodford Dad but having checked the records i`m also a little confused, the goals for Woodford Under 18s on Nov 23rd 2011 were Ames OG 55mins, Stewart N 62, Stewart A 71, the goal on Saturday for LB was credited to Ed Kostium :o now I know Woodford is a small village etc etc but the are some things that are possibly best kept within "the tight knit community of your village" that said if you are indeed the Father of everyone in Woodford under 35 fair play to you, though it may be a bridge to far to claim the parentage of all those playing for LB Saturday
Here is the evidence- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RhxdrATu14
Just checked myself- I thought my lad scored 2 but it looks like he created all 3 but scored none, so he went one step further on Saturday!
Don't know where you got Ed Kostium from for Saturday either- definitely states Edward Kostiuk on the FA UCL website. :P

*NEWS FLASH* We're getting news slowly filtering in that no one give a flying f*ck who scored! The team Woodford Dad's son plays for are rubbish, and the previous post about who scored, what, when, where and how have been extremely boring! This news is yet to be confirmed but from what we've heard from witnesses it is almost certainly going to be confirmed as true! *NEWS FLASH*

They don't call me Michael "Kofi Annan" Dowling for nothing!

I like to approach subjects with tact and diplomacy in order not to offend or shock anyone ;)

Dowlo- get in touch with the rest of the world- those rose-tinted glasses don't suit you.

Long Buckby is a village team who operate within their means. Every now and then a 'big' club visits that are used to big crowds, proper bars, proper service and not interested at all in the opposition as long as they beat them.
Buckby do their best to cope but they are not going to invest in an infrastructure that will only be required once or twice a season- its a waste of their hard-earned money.
If (and its a very big 'if') Rushden were to play a home game against Chelsea do you think Wellingborough Town's ground would cope with a sudden huge surge in supporters? Its the same situation, just chunked up a level.
You seem to forget Rushden's recent history- going from football league status with a big stadium to oblivion and then climbing back. Fortunately your fan base has remained loyal which is why you live the style you do. You are going through a transition phase and have to mix with the village teams on your way up, so don't pick on them- they are in the position they are in because they've never reached the heights you have and therefore have never attracted a large fan base.

Woodford Dad. Dowlo is a wind up merchant.
Nearly all Diamonds fans are realists and we know what a great job so many hard working people do to keep clubs at step 5.6,7 in existence for the benefit of their local communities, often as you say just villages. Our roots are in "village" teams such as Irthlingboro and Rushden.
If there were no lower league teams we would not have had any where to restart.

When teams like Kings Lynn and Rushden come along it gives a financial boost to UCL clubs, so in a couple of seasons time you can look forward to K*ttering Town calling in!!

Thanks. So we do think the same. :D
Don't think we will meet with K*ttering as we will get relegated this season. Buckby are having to rebuild from scratch and have not got the right mix of players yet. The players they do get are either joining because they are benchwarmers at their current clubs or just not good enough to play at a higher level, hence the huge turnaround in players- Most of those on the squad list are no longer at the club. There are only 20 registered players to pick from.
Because of their position any decent players they get are soon snapped up by 'bigger' clubs.
Woodford had 2 seasons of it, have now found their level and look to be successfully building from scratch again in Div. 1. I expect Buckby will do the same over the next couple of seasons.

I not that blind to see the likes of Long Bucky, Cogenhoe, Yaxley,Thrapston etc are good local football clubs and serve the local community.

I was merely pointing out the Long Buckby is s sh*thole. A bleak place in the middle of no where. If anyone wants to dispute that I'll be more than happy to have that discussion.
I found the locals in the clubhouse to be less than welcoming they almost seemed annoyed at the fact a load of people disturbed their afternoon in the club house and put £200 plus behind their bar. Especially our Rugby loving friend (knobhead).

I know we will go to our fair share of "village" teams along the way back up the pyramid, some will be nicer than others. I will no doubt visit most of them on the way, it's all part of the experience.

As for being a wind up merchant, well observed. The problem is that there is simply too many people out there for me to keep winding up. Some very easy nibbles on this forum.

This part troubles me. Was it not a few seasons ago that Buckby decided to build a team with the sole aim of winning the UCL? There was no intention to progress and it was purely a hunt for pots.

In this respect you can't compare them to Cogenhoe, Thrapston or Yaxley who have invested in the facilities and still compete on an even keel.
