I've registered for the forum but am still awaiting an email confirmation. I'm assuming someone has to authenticate my application before I can log on, and that that person probably has better things to do right now.

Yes, you need to register a username for the forum. I like the idea of going with first name and then membership no.

Oh and I'd like to echo Formic's comments about how good this is. As someone who never attended Trust meetings and the like and was therefore out of the loop during the Trust-era I'm glad this won't be the case this time and everyone can stay well informed. :)

Registration for the forum is separate from the members area , but you can use the same username and password if you want to. You can also use a different one if you want to.

Sorry about all the teething problems - getting there!

It will be interesting to see how much effect the new official forum will have on this messageboard.

As long as the Desperate Measures thread is about I think we'll be alright. ;)

What does the official forum have that this forum doesn't? Is there any need for it?

I can't see it having too much effect on traffic through this site. I'll probably be a tad more sensible and engage in important debates on the new site, whilst reverting to offensive and lewd language on here.

As members we'll be party to sometimes sensitive information, the new forum allows the free debate and discussion of these matters to take place away from prying eyes.

Well we need the official forum to talk about stuff that we wouldn't want getting into the public domain. E.g. we can talk freely about the ground vote and all the secretive stuff we wouldn't want aired in public, like budgets and financial stuff. It means that users can't just create usernames and cause mischief.

I don't think we should get rid of this forum though, it's good for football chat and means non-wind up opposition fans can come on here and discuss. Also it has nice history, so when I'm feeling down I can go back and read the threads after the K*ttering game or the Stevenage game and cheer myself up. :D

I agree that any discussions concerning sensitive budgetary and other member confidential information can be discussed in an open and frank manner on the members forum but there will still be a place for discussion on all things football on this forum. Good move by the acting committee.
