A few years ago we had no football club, then a small band of people (many still there to their immense credit) formed a working group to create an U18s team playing on a Thursday evening, that year the club was formally created and that group voted in to be our Board! Anyone can put their name forward for that - a benefit of being a member, few have bothered, most citing they don’t have the time.

When people ask what is the benefit of being a member I always say that, we have a club to follow - can you remember what it felt like when we didn’t. I pay my membership fee to have a say in the club, what bigger say can you have other than voting for the board membership, you can stand as member to take the club forward too - how good is that? I get to vote on shirt colours, the match cost and get 10% discount in the shop (which I never claim btw).

I buy a season ticket knowing full well I won’t get to see all the games due to work! I’m not wealthy, far from it, but it’s the best I can do to support the club the in the best way I can.

If only a few of the people who keep telling the board what they’re doing wrong were to step up and volunteer to help then some of the things you want might happen. If you can’t that’s fine, that’s your choice, but those that are should be given support.

I’m sure what I say won’t be popular, but we all want the same thing, there is no “ them and us”, we’re Diamonds fans, all of us!

Anyway I’m focusing on the football, we’re on the threshold of something incredible and no matter where we finally end up I’m immensely proud of what has been achieved both on and off the field this season.

To those people saying they don’t like the atmosphere at HR and have only been to 2 games this season - read that again! Atmosphere is created by the fans turning up!

Getting our own ground is the way forward, not looking back or moaning about the past or what we have now - I think back to the Raunds days and the U18s and look at what we have now and frankly, I feel blessed!

Very well put Pigman. The atmosphere is always better when there is a bigger crowd and bigger crowds come with success and or attractive footie. Both of which we have had this season. I am really hoping the final 2 games will see bumper crowds and plenty to cheer about. I am hoping for us to finish 4th and then beat P. Sports in the final.

I’d say the last 3 games Sussex, St Ives isn’t that far away and we should take loads on a bank holiday Monday to set up the following Saturday vs Nuneaton!

I get the “fans react to the players” argument, but vice versa - we’ve been treated to some quality football these past few months, it’s a bit up and down, but we’re a step 3 side punching above our weight, what do people expect? Let’s push the boys on past the finishing line - then it’s a lottery! Win we win, lose we lose, but for us to finish in the playoffs from where we were in October is a massive achievement.

If we fall at the final hurdle of course I’ll be disappointed, but if we fail on a too 5 finish we’d have to acknowledge Alvechurch’s tenacity for pushing us all the way!

Unfortunately I won't make the Easter games but thanks to Radio Diamonds I will follow every moment described by Joseph and Ollie. From a selfish point of view I would love us to clinch play off spot v Nuneaton, but happy to accept it on Easter Monday.

Being a board member is not easy, at times it can feel like another full time job.

It probably doesn't give you back what you put in, but what volunteer position does.

What it does give you is the chance to pick up skills that you wouldn't normally have chance to do.

Any organisation needs a certain amount of evolution, some of the guys on the board have been doing it ten years, they must be knackered 😄.

Help them out, make criticisms if you need to but don't stop there, offer a plan, offer to help, even if it's for a small amount if time. There are lots of little projects within the big AFCR&D project.

Remember 11 years ago when there was no club.
