A few weeks ago many on this forum couldn't see Sileby dropping any further points and they've dropped 6 in just two matches. Keep the faith and remember Yeovil and Hartlepool. ;)Olly wrote:...we'll need Sileby to drop points again somewhere, like us they've got Potton and Spencer who won't be easy for them and they'll be rattled a bit from 2 defeats in a week, but I still fear its unlikely they'll drop much more.

Technically we don't need anyone to do anything else for us. We just need to win ALL of our remaining games convincingly and overhaul a 5 goal deficit Sileby have. We have the strikers to do that so I expect a shoot on sight policy from now on.
You're knocked out with who I am,
Look at you now, you're all in my hands.

Would Sileby really be that unprofessional though? Whitworths maybe, but not Sileby.Olly wrote:Exactly my worries, nothing would surprise me in this league anymore and a Sileby win there would be doing both teams a favour, so they'll probably agree on that before the game, which would just sum up this league, we'll need Sileby to drop points again somewhere, like us they've got Potton and Spencer who won't be easy for them and they'll be rattled a bit from 2 defeats in a week, but I still fear its unlikely they'll drop much more.diamondblade85 wrote:Great to be top and almost have it in our own hands! I can't see Whitworths rolling over and playing dead either. Get thrashed out of sight because they are technically poor, unfit and badly managed yes, but playing to lose no.

Unfortunately I didn't support the club then and still have never experienced a Diamonds' promotion, but I am still hopeful, keeping my fingers crossed we'll go into the Spencer game knowing a win would guarantee us promotion, just imagine the scenes if we did, 1000+ crowd, pitch invasion... though mustn't get carried away!Trek wrote:A few weeks ago many on this forum couldn't see Sileby dropping any further points and they've dropped 6 in just two matches. Well alright I wasn't entirely being serious there, just saying we're at that sort of level where things like things like that wouldn't entirely surprise me, if it was the premier league, then there'd be outrage of course, but would it be the same in the UCL, there's a distinct lack of organisation and unprofessionalism in this league as we've seen and a Sileby victory would be in the best interests of both teams, as I imagine Sileby will be kicking themselves after putting together that team if they don't go up.diamondgeezer1 wrote:Would Sileby really be that unprofessional though? Well done lads on the three points today, wasnt the most comfortable but either way nobody can moan that its back to the top...First half should have ended 6-1 at least, comfortable and cruising. But second half it was slightly nervy...Thought hopey was immense the whole game and thorougly deserved his goal.
Does anyone else think the formation was slightly out today, i think lance is far more effective up front and in front of goal, he was i bit quiet on the right today. Dev i wasnt sure about, but jake also had a very good game.
Either way 3 points is 3 points thats all we could ask for!!
Whats peoples view on cross in goal, although he didnt have all that much to do, when he punched the ball he made me shudder a bit...
Dont usually get involved in talking to the players to be honest, but great to have a word with whiz on the way out...top guy
Hope hes back next week, think we missed him today...

A few words for Cross btw. I think after that performance he's nailed on for player of the season. He looked like a colossus between the sticks; a dominant, commanding, extravagant, other-adjectives show of goalkeeping and so on and so forth! ;)
Seriously though, a couple of really good catches from crosses, punched when he had to (and did it well) and a really good stop from that shot in the second half that was curling back in. I like him!

I must say a big thank you to ON's for their hospitality, and the waitress service was a nice touch 8-)
