Re: UCL Division 1??
Probably none. I've never seen such bitching and rumour-mongering. It's like being back at school.
I think we're all reading too much into this to be perfectly honest. Regardless of a ground, i'm confident common sense will prevail and we'll be in the UCL Premier next season. I don't really see who benefits from us being in Div One.

They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

There is two more teams applying for the UCL from the Northants ComI think but both have there own grounds a facilitiies already
So do you expect us to sit there all this season and not look at players who might be willing to come and play for us next season? Considering we don't yet have a Saturday team I can't see how it could be considered an illegal approach. I'd download the UCL rules, but the link doesn't work.Maybe we should just go to all the other UCL club's games and hold up a placard "come play for us next season" ?
I'd say, the UCL is ALREADY benefitting from us as our fans go along to other club's matches.
Sheesh, it's getting boring already, isn't it Robin?
I bet no other UCL club approaches other teams players, oh no siree bob 8-)
They must all be saints, and don't like the prospect of nawty AFC R&D coming to play them
what does it matter if they are approached, these lads i bet are not on contracts and i bet they dont get paid at this age and like any young lad they always chase a dream!!!! and to make a point i/we have been asked(as parents) to become scouts for a local biggish ;) club and to let them know if there is any good local talent around

Illegal approaches to non-contract players go on all the time, which doesn't change the fact that a club will be deep in the brown stuff if caught.
As for S & L not paying players
, you have got to be joking.

How's the progress of the new senior side coming along for the season in the UCL? Surely they won't accept a team that doesn't exist will they?

They don't accept a team, they accept a club. ;)coltrane wrote:How's the progress of the new senior side coming along for the season in the UCL? Surely they won't accept a team that doesn't exist will they?

You can't sign players to play for a team that might not have a division to play in. The club is accepted if we meet requirements, then we put the team together.coltrane wrote:How's the progress of the new senior side coming along for the season in the UCL? Re: UCL Division 1??
But how can they decide at which level to put us if we don't yet have any players? Option one we assemble a team good enough for the premier division and then we get elected into division one or lower, players then leave because they feel that they can play at a higher level. Option two we get elected into the premier division but then can't get a team of players competent to play at that level and so fail to live up to the leagues expectations. It's a chicken and egg situation. :(

Re: UCL Division 1??
I'm not quite sure I understand your reasoning. As others have said, it is the club that gets placed into a league, and the club comprises much more than on-field performance. It will down to ground facilities and arrangement, as well as financial sustainability and the leagues own requirements.coltrane wrote:But how can they decide at which level to put us if we don't yet have any players? If we were placed in the Premier, this would be because we demonstrated a viability at that level in terms of sustainability and finance. If we happened to then choose rubbish players and came bottom, that is football isn't it? The Premier League didn't reject Derby a few years ago because they thought their left-midfielder was not up to scratch.
