Re: [ Tue 31st Mar ] v Wisbech Town, KO 7:45pm KOC HOME
The first twenty minutes we were very good, up there with anything we've produced this season and the goal was well deserved.
The wind made a bit of a mockery of the rest of the half and thankfully it subsided a bit for the second half. Wisbech started stonger in the second half but toward the end I felt we would be the ones most likely.
The archetypal "I don't care if we win with a goal off someone's arse" performance.

We looked really good at the start of the game, and could easily have got a couple more goals. Losing Bunting seemed to affect things a bit, but Tommy Berwick seemed to link up with his team-mates far better, and Scott Joseph was full of running. Tom Lorraine showed why he is the next Brad Harris with his flexibility - and Brad Harris is showing why he is the next Tom Lorraine with his goalscoring.
Perhaps Matt Finlay is due a special mention - he's been solid all season, rather an unsung hero, and his couple of saves in the second half set us up with a chance to get the late winner.
Jason Turner's goal nudges him ahead again in the race to be this season's top scorer, but we might end up having a few players out of position to cover for injuries etc in the remaining games - and perhaps more so if they insist on holding the KO Cup Final over a week after the season ends. If ELJ or Jack Ashton trip over the 10 booking mark in the next couple of games they will probably miss the season finale and the cup final, as would anyone picking up their second red card of the season in those games (with the continuing red card threat right up to the Newport Pagnell game of missing the Cup Final).

Did it not go in off Tom Lorraine? From behind the goal it seemed that Turner's initial shot would be saved easily but it deflected off somebody - either Lorraine or a Wisbech man - and wrongfooted the keeper.Formic wrote:

Surely a mistake it's always been at a neutral ground in my memory.
It now states the final being played now Yaxley,

Looks as though Yaxley is the place for the final, bit bizzare. :?

Do they think Wisbech won last night? Ideal venue for a Potton v Wisbech final :?

Does Yaxley have some sort of hold on the UCL hierarchy? Does Yaxley have such a superior stadium to everybody else.? Are they just being bloody minded to annoy us?
I would not expect Potton to be too pleased either.

Absolutely and I had much the same conversation with a few people at the game last night who felt exactly the sameFormic wrote:Perhaps Matt Finlay is due a special mention - he's been solid all season, rather an unsung hero, and his couple of saves in the second half set us up with a chance to get the late winner.
