Strong performance all round from the lads, particularly in the second half and Dolman's finish was sublime. Thought Gearing played very well as did Ashton at the back. Their left winger was very lively in the first half and we had a bit of trouble now and again, our defending for their goal was abysmal but we reacted positively to it and deserved the big win.
Huntingdon will now be low on confidence after losing 3-0 at Desborough, while Cogenhoe also lost and PNS were held to a draw. Yaxley let a two-goal lead slip at Boston and needed a late winner to scrape a 3-2 win. Looking at the fixtures earlier today I thought all the top 6 would win so glad to see a few dropped points there.
If we continue working hard, it's looking good.

TheIncognitoKid wrote:Easy 5-1 victory in the end as LB tired in the second. Home side started well though and looked hard to believe that they hadn't won a game yet. Left winger was causing some real problems and their goal came from him cross. Great goal for Gearings first which was better by Dolmans cracking side foot volley from the edge of the 18 yard box, after a long ball to find him. Certainly the best of his three for the club. Looking in doubt that we might not get the full 90 as one of the floodlights never came on and the ref decided to stop the game for around 10 minutes early in the second. Another three points with a few goals and a few results also going our way
A great 2nd half performance, I agree at one stage I didn't think the game would last 90 minutes, well done to ref. nice to see Huntingdon lose.
If we get 6 points out of 6, in are next 2 games (Eynesbury Rovers and Boston Town) then we go 8 points clear of Holbeach.

And SKY on the other TV, has Woodford Dad ever been in there, hope they leave one of the working lights on while he's there waiting for his lad to get those 2 goals.

Gutted to have missed this today, but work had to come first !!
Listened in on Radio Diamonds (Ralph/Adam, terrific coverage!!) and am delighted with this win - Huntingdon losing was icing on the cake.
I know it was only LB and they are bottom, but we put them to the sword professionally, we haven't always done that.
I'll be there Tuesday - can't wait !!

Please God can we get promoted so we don't have to go to Long f'ing Buckby again.
Regarding their side, some decent wingers and lively strikers let down badly by the spine of the team which looked Northants Sunday Combination Division 4 standard at best. I think they'll pick up more points over the course of the season but they badly need some 30-somethings in the middle of the park - the assessment earlier in the thread was bang on.
We did what we had to do. Should have had a lot more but if there's a goal scored at Step 5 this season that's better than Liam Dolman's today then i'd like to see it. Unbelievable technique - from a CB!
Wisbech V PNS and Huntingdon V Yaxley in midweek. We've got to do the business on Tuesday against Eynesbury. Last time we smashed a poor side in BPW it started a spell of good form, let's hope today does the same.

I was in the bar Brownie and discovered it has Sky Sports.
It was my lad that scored the Buckby goal-he's seems to find it natural to score against you :P
For those that ignored my tip about parking- there was loads of spaces in the rugby club car park!
As shown today, Buckby need some 'men' in their team-they were never going to beat you but again showed they do have some talented players.
Tuesday vs Harborough is going to be interesting.

To be fair they are unlikely to be saved on the pitch and would need the combined efforts of Roberta and the PNS cake maker to survive off the pitch come the UCL relegation auction this time round

Not sure if Long Buckby tries to bring in some "ringers" as former Diamond GK, James Broadbent has not featured for two months the Left winger, Mzungwana, right and left back(who was awful) have not played this season according to the program.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure it wasn't the old Rushden's James Broadbent? I don't remember him ever having lego hair!
