A note of concern. Today there were a small number of Diamonds "fans" just outside the bar who shouted ignorant abusive chants for the the entire game. Every other chant was peppered with the F word or C word and they were racially abusing the Wootton right winger. It completely spoilt the experience of anyone in that part of the stand and I wouldn't imagine many parents would continue to take their children to games if this was repeated. If this is the kind of support we take to away grounds we'll soon become a pariah (and rightly so). The club need to have a think about how this kind of nonsense can be reined in.

I think most games will be like this, Wootton looked up for it, we didn't, sorry to bring out an old cliche, but it was their cup final, they made a killing on the gate, were very happy with the attendance figures and they sold loads of beer anf food. 8-)
A nice club, very friendly people
Onwards and upwards people.................Oh and the best rumour of the day that I heard was that we are paying our players £2,500 per week

Yeah I agree, I heard a few swearing quite badly at the ref in the first half like last week and as was said by a few in the other thread like myself, we should cut the refs in this league some slack and be a bit more respectful to them and players in general really. Neither the players or officials are being paid much (if at all) and I have to say considering the abuse refs get at all levels in this country, I find it slightly amazing they can even get officials for this level, as it can't be a particularly nice or enjoyable job to have, having abuse shouted at you every week and I wonder how many there are out there that actually want to be refs. Though it was only a handful that were shouting abuse, but I do hope it doesn't continue as we're certainly not going to make any friends in this league if we carry it on.

  Would they have even been paid this week after failing to win today?
And was thinking what a good day it would have been for Wootton today, with around 300 there, £5 for most of those, £2 for the programme (which I thought was a bit much considering it was only 10 pages) and plenty of beer and food sold by the looks of things, they may have made £1500+ today, a hell of a lot for a club that I guess is used to crowds of 50.

I had a long chat with theofficials after the game and asked them about their experience performing in front of such a crowd, they all said that it was water off a ducks back, and that they had heard worse when officiating in front of 10 people.
That said, I take on your point, but we can't police everyone, or we would have no life at all.
To lay the blame at the club is wrong, we would encourage people to be responsible when visiting other clubs, but if you think that even if we were squeaky clean, other clubs would think better about us, you have got a surprise coming 8-)

In the terrace there was a wootton fan behaving in a similarish fashion, abusing Peter and swearing at the diamonds fans.
However plans are afoot for the club to positively make a difference.

Wootton have the lowest support in the UCL.
Average last season 22, highest crowd 52, lowest 10 :o
It's not so much a question of making friends in this league, but if the claims at the top of page 5 on this thread are true, and are reported by the match officials, the FA could take virtually any action against the club.

Positive note: Their lovely egg sandwichs soaked up the alcohol in my stomach very nicely.

Oh and it didn't rain and at least we could all let out the anger of the first 82 minutes when we scored. I knocked over my drink.
Any more news on Champagne-gate?

As long as I've been going to football games I've heard that chant. It is nothing new and is generally taken in jest by player and said in jest by fan. As for racial abuse? Come on now.

Please don't make accusations that are completely unfounded, there was no racial chants! Yes there were chants relating to a gypo etc but that is water off a ducks backs. Yes some of the chants may have been a bit below the belt and too much effing and jeffing but it's all pretty minor at the end of the day. Take away the dozen lads then there would be no atmosphere!
