Possibly we should consider having Tuesdays off more often, given last night was about as successful as us winning a game, also see Arlesey Town who couldn`t win a 1 ticket raffle Aug to Oct are flying up the table, one of the Leighton people told me they had some money and were signing new players for fun, shame we missed playing them when they were performing like Villa. Sadly forecast is bad to tomorrow as well as the weekend so would think Saturdays game will probably be in serious doubt.

If I were the management/board, and secretly wanted to postpone a game, yesterday's would've been it. :hmmm: :joy:

Chalfont v Aylesbury is also postponed.
Well I was nearly right............... Jan 5th is worse than mid January. What are chances of that game being postponed also.
Does the SL have a rule that matches must be played at next available date.?

Sorry to go on about this, but with 17 Saturdays and 17 Tuesdays available from Jan to end of April, surely we could schedule postponed matches for Feb at the earliest.

Do you have a fear of watching football in the cold? You were talking earlier about it being played on a nice spring evening rather than last night. But last time I checked football was a winter sport so may involve the odd Tuesday night stood out in the cold.

As long as I never have to experience temperatures as cold as Yaxley 2 seasons ago which must have been the coldest night ever humanly recorded, I couldn't give sh*t when the re arrange it for.

I remember the nice spring evening at the back end of March at the Rockinghorse for the rearranged match against the Ploppies when it hammered it down all night whilst we were watching from the open terrace. The only saving grace was that K*ttering got hammered as well. :good:

It's also been known to snow in April as well.

Firstly, I'm pretty sure the respective club secretaries are responsible for rearranging games at this level, not the league's fixture secretary (unlike the UCL), so you might want to bear that in mind before criticising in future.

Secondly, the weather at this time of year is about as predictable as the winning lottery numbers (who expected 14°C and bright sunshine in December?); in previous season's we've had almost the whole of December washed out, and then January has been fine, but in others December has been fine and then we've hardly played in Jan and Feb. I think it makes complete sense to reschedule the games as early as possible, and if they get postponed again and have to be re-rescheduled then so be it. We'd look ridiculous if we rescheduled all these postponements for February, then had good weather throughout January only for it to take a turn for the worse in Feb. It would also leave us with fewer free dates to fit in any further postponed games.

There's also another very good reason to get the games in early. Players will inevitably tire more towards the end of the season, so it's better to get the back to back Saturday-Tuesday games in before the final few months. Also, if we have any fitness/injury problems at this stage of the season we can simply go out and sign a new player within 7 days. The registration window shuts in March though, so from then on we're pretty much stuck with who we've got.

My concern is not so much the weather alone, but the effect december/January games have on attendance. Surely the club finances will suffer if we only get 350-400 when later in season we could get 400-500. I do get your point about the unpredictable weather though.

But I think you're wrong about that as well, if we have several home games in April attendances will suffer as people don't have the money and or time to attend them all.
