I agree with Jon's assessment of the game.
The first twenty minutes we were outstanding, then we had a rocky hour and finished strongly for the last ten.
I thought the a few heads went down or lost focus, which is understandable, during the rocky period.
It's not the way we would have wanted to finish the season but the lads have had a great season, the move into U21's will help those that are graduating stay within the club if they wish and those that still have time will get better under Mark and Dean's tutorship.
We get a lot of comments about the Under 18's, saying that players come for the name and the kits, but that's rubbish. If you were a young player, looking to develop where would you rather be, here under Mark Walsh or someone where else under a less enlightened coach?

Well as far as I'm concerned I'm happy if young players want to join us for the name and kit etc etc and isn't that part and parcel of joining a set up that has a well earned reputation for employing good well qualified coaches and a past record for playing the game in the right manner? That would be my response to the knockers from other jealous clubs.

I know it sounds like sour grapes and being a bad loser, but the referee had a shocker - seemed strange that during the presentations a fella got awarded referee of the year and yet wasn't given the Final? :? A blind monkey could have reffed it better than the clown we had tonight- no common sense whatsoever and a bit of a "its all about me merchant". Even at 1-4 down we had our chances to get back in the game, alas it wasn't to be.
Well done to Yaxley anyway, they made all of the clown's decisions work to their advantage ;)
Althouth I`m the last person to comment on referees (!!) the award was actually for the best YOUNG referee - not the BEST referee.
Just thought I`d make that point!

That is correct best under 25 (I think) would still of been fitting for him to of reffed the final (couldn't of been worse than the clown that did)

Fair do's, thanks for clarifying that Steve, the public address system wasn't the best and we could hardly hear it from where we were stood. Still think the ref had a shocker, there were some very strange decisions given (both ways), I think the young ref would have been a far better choice personally, he couldn't have done any worse ;)
