A possible reason for the over excitement of the Diamonds management and fans could be because we have suffered some tough results against your management teams former club and players in the past. It was not so much anything against Gresley.
I should imagine that our management team remember Damion Beckford-Quailey's celebrations after Thurnby Nirvana scored a late winning goal against us back in December 2014. Probably a bit of harmless banter on both sides.

As for our penalty yesterday afternoon perhaps Gresleyian would like to look at Malcolm Swinden's photo on the match report.

I've checked it & whilst it does show that it looks to have hit the arm, it's a very harsh call in any form of football for me when it's charged down from such a short distance (within 5-6 yards especially) as it discourages last ditch defending and also anatomically it's difficult to challenge with the hands behind the back etc. If the hands were right in the air then you can understand but when close to the body it's a tough call to me, whether for or against us

We had a similar one disallowed in the last few minutes in extra time in last season's SL1C playoff final against St Ives Town when chasing an equaliser. This season we had one given against our centre half against Chasetown when Dolman had his hand at the side close to his body and the ball was driven at him from a few yards away.
Hand to ball or ball to hand is for the referee to determine and any award in these circumstances is often contentious.
As a fan we can only hope these decisions even themselves out over the course of a season.

A good match from a supporters view. Gresley were a good team and caused problems for Sam Brown and Liam Dolman, who were just forced into chasing the players, with no chance of cutting out the passes. We played well in the 2nd half and l thought it was 3 points for Gresley when they scored in the 93rd minute. But, great to see the equaliser go in, mad scenes and overall a draw was a good result. They will be in the play-off places for most of the season, and could push on for a top 2 spot, if they play like that. Anyway, good match, good crowd, good entertainment and no loss.
