Bowen is injured not sure about Richards but he hasn't been involved in a league game so far, other than unused sub in first game of season V Tamworth on Aug 6th

*Need a manager who signs players of at least the same calibre of the ones he loses, else, as it looks ominously right now, this club is going to go backwards.

Slightly harsh considering its only the second game into the season. Once again it goes back to the topic of getting promoted year after year.. Everyone said it would be more of a challenge going north and yes it seems that way, that doesn't mean after game 2 it's going to be a relegation scrap or a race for promotion. It's far too early to say how it's going to pan out, but if we're in this league for the next 3-4 years or moved south what's the rush??

Great reply from corby diamond to an expected idiotic post.
As for the rant, I think it's pointless without clear instructions on how they need to improve. James Loader is a self confessed Diamonds fan as well.

Whose is the idiotic post? The one that's advocating a brash sunday league style of management or the one that is making a blindingly obvious point? We haven't suitably replaced Lee, Hoban, Sandy & co, the only decent thing we've done is sign Curtis to replace Quigley.
As for the rush, you sound like those PE teachers that are told to tell you coming second was ok. If you're happy to go and watch a mediocre team in a mediocre league, then all the best with that, I personally always want my sides to do well and to be where they belong, which for this team is higher than it is doing currently, given the quality players we have in some positions like Dolman & Ashton. We are 2/3 good players away, I'd like to see us go and get another Hoban.

Isn't this coming from a 'fan' who attends a small number of games a season and is probably yet to see us play this year?

Oh get a grip FFS. We belong at Step 4, as do all sides at this level until they demonstrate otherwise on the field over the course of a season. Your regular belittling of this league and the clubs in it is pathetic.
There is very little difference between Step 3 and 4, if you want to watch a club pissing money away trying to get promoted as fast as possible please go elsewhere, because I don't want our club to do that again.

Well said.
Whilst Hoban was clearly a big loss (but unavoidable) we didn't get much from Lee or Sandy - their arrival coincided with some of the worst Diamonds performances I've seen - the sequence of Royston A, Uxbridge H, Northwood H, Leighton T A and the Arlesey capitulation, with Sandy effectively absent when we found our mojo in the last home game of the season and the play-off semi-final.

Nothing wrong in coming 2nd if you have played to the best of your ability. We have no right to win every game, in some ways we were spoiled in some of the games in the lower leagues. You belong where you are in the league based on results. Of course I want us to win every game, there is no shame in being beaten by a better team as we were last night, but we do need an improvement very soon. The important thing is to identify weak areas and strengthen. That does not mean necessarily changing players but playing them in their strongest positions. Having said that, we need wide players!
