Best draw a line under that performance and move on! Good luck to Basford Utd, they deserved their win today !! If we play like that next week we will get ripped a new one !!

Disappointing performance and deserved to lose as said, but I feel it's not the end of the world going out of the Trophy, as a step 4 side, we never really had much of a chance of going far like we did in the Vase and even if we did do okay in the Trophy, we wouldn't have reaped the sort of financial rewards that we'd get if we went far in the Cup. I hope it acts as a kick up the backside like our last defeat did for our game next week which is undoubtedly massive for the club just 2 wins away from potentially getting a trip to places like Fratton park or Bramall Lane.

Agreed, however I think our lax summer recruitment might mean we need to get 1 or 2 out before we can address that.fentiger79 wrote:We need another striker if we are to continue to progress.
Desperately hope Hoban is fit for next weekend, we're a much different proposition when he plays. Not going to lose any sleep over today's result though, may not be a bad thing that the unbeaten run has ended as I thought it was starting to become a bit of a monkey on our backs.
We've now got a free Saturday on 31st October. Ought to re-re-arrange the Fleet (H) game for that date, seems a bit harsh dragging them all the way up here on a Tuesday night.

I've felt all season that we could do with another striker, it's not that our current strikers have done badly necessarily, but I don't think any of them are 20+ goals a season strikers and we could do with one to keep progressing. Though despite today's defeat, considering how well we've done so far in the league, I don't think another striker at this point is essential, Claudio makes up for the lack of a top striker I'd say and I agree with BR about him next week, I'd say our chances of winning next week are significantly increased with Claudio fit and playing, he gives us that bit more in terms of quality, something that could be vital in a game against a team from a higher level.

Definitely, Hoban is the star man. We need him fit next week. I think we have a very good team, a decent striker would make us great. Too many changes, out of position performances today. Goals were very poor.

I would imagine Hoban's injury isn't just a niggle as he started last week with some sort of support on his knee and only lasted 20 minutes. Id certainly rather wait until he's fully fit. In terms of finding a new striker, a natural goalscorer is what's required and I think Peaksy had that in mind with Lawless. I know he didn't get long to today but he looks well out his depth at this level, just like he did during pre-season.

Well our seemingly unstoppable unbeaten run has finally come to an end. Can’t help but think that last Tuesday’s farce had some sort of impact on today’s display; the performance was so unlike us. I thought we showed a lack of passion and desire at certain times during the match which was a bit disappointing. Just shows how much we miss players like Ashton and Hoban.
However, all good things must come to an end of course and to remain unbeaten since the 10th January is a truly staggering run! Incredible effort by all involved so hats off. One of the biggest games in the club’s history next Saturday so hopefully we can bounce back in style.

That is an excellent idea. One that would be advantageous to both sides.BartonRaz wrote:Agreed, however I think our lax summer recruitment might mean we need to get 1 or 2 out before we can address that.fentiger79 wrote:We need another striker if we are to continue to progress.
