I was behind the same goal, but slightly to the side, and thought it was a stonewall penalty (as did several people around me). Although one defender slid in and took the ball superbly, it looked to us like a second defender dived in alongside him and took out Gearing at almost exactly the same time. It will be interesting to see it again on the highlights.
From the hotel side it looked like it was a decent shout too. I'd also like to see Bunting's second yellow on the video, as it looked like a 50/50 challenge with both players going in hard, but the loudest appeals came from the Cooks players / management as they had done for most of the afternoon (but we appeared to have two players cautioned for dissent).

I assume Bunting will miss the first two games of next season unless there is any possibility of an appeal.

I didn't realise to start with that the sending off was actually for a second yellow, which means there is no opportunity to appeal (other than on the grounds that the ref got the wrong player). It will only be a one match ban, starting 14 days after the offence, so Bunts will still be available for the cup final, and will indeed miss the first game of next season.

Speaking to Bunts after he came off he said that he nicked the ball cleanly and the guy kicked his foot, I think the reaction of certain players and one in particular with his own rendition from the ministery of silly walks influenced the ref !!

I suggested it will be two games as he's already been sent off once this season.

Yeah I thought it was a 50/50 in which bunts got the ball first and then the bad decision. Ref had small man syndrome.

The second yellow was definately a soft one the first was avoidable, as dissent bookings always are.

Mark Hewitt ceratinly ran after the ref more than he ever did after the ball for us.

Not a great performance but then it was never going to be, the point about playing for Cup final places, with the settled side we have had recently it was more a case of not getting injured before the Cup. Hope Bully recovers in time everyone else looked ok, though some from Cogenhoe tried to ensure that wasn`t the case.
Well done to Alfie, not only on a bloody good goal but the way he didn`t celebrate it. Not sure what Mark Hewitt was on but it sure wasn`t calming pills, he was at Sileby a week last Tue with the lads when we won the league, was also out with them last Sat after the Pagnell game, so what was the screaming
"f**k you bunch of tossers" about when Cogenhoe went 3-2 up  especially as he was looking towards the PDB stand and most of our supporters were at the other end.

Good point, forgot about that!

So what is anybody's view after watching the Match video that's now online? The first penalty certainly falls into the "I've seen them given" category for me, and the actions of the Cogenhoe player trying to get Bunting sent off by indicating it was a stamp are pretty disappointing.

In defence of the ref (not something you may never hear me say again) in real time it could have appeared one defender got the ball & the 2nd got Matt.
No 8 Lesley Lewis (behave like a little girl etc) & Mark Hewitt was worthy of the UCL Pairs winging award for 2014/15. Hewitt's rant after their 3rd goal was embarrassing & Lewis it can only be assumed thought the was a "prat of the match award" up for grabs.
