He has been suspended by the Labour Party and faces a jail term. But I believe the ballot papers have already been printed and so he will still appear on the ballot even though you cant really vote for him/Labour.

So he could end up in an institution full of cheats, liars and criminals.......
or, if he's not elected, he could go to jail instead.

Oh what a surprise. Another politician convicted of fraud and you can't get one more local than this one. Now waiting for Peter Bone's response.

Bone seems too busy trying to get his mate Pursglove elected in Corby and East Northants (which includes Irthlingborough). I can't see anything else than a re-election with an increased majority. It will be interesting to see how many of these renew their AFCR&D membership after the election. My guess would be less than one.

It's an interesting situation. Technically speaking if you were planning on voting for Richard Garvie - you still can. If he wins then he would be an independent. However, if you were planning on voting for the Labour Party, regardless of who their candidate is then you can't. There won't be a Labour candidate in this election.
Incredibly bad timing coupled with complete stupidity from Garvie.

Still can't understand how a card can work with a closed account. Surely once someone puts a PIN number in the transaction would be declined?

Online, you just need the card

What's worse is those with postal votes who had already returned their votes may have just voted for whoever was standing for Labour without caring who the local candidate was. Garvie will keep those votes even though he's no longer a labour candidate.
Similarly those who haven't heard of this scandal when they go to vote may just vote for the party rather than the individual.

so labour wont have a representative at the election? they can't just replace him with another labour candidate? wonder if this has ever happened before. very odd.

I can imagine Labour would have a backup person but I think it might be too late to register them.
Ultimately, this isn't a decision an MP will make - the people you really need to get on to are the East Northamptonshire Council, who will probably be a mix of UKIP and Conservatives after the 7th.
