Let's at least wait until we've seen the lad play with our own eyes before suggesting he's just a talentless pawn in some awful grand plot against the club, for f**ks sake.
And in the unlikely event that there is something more 'sinister' at hand, bear in mind that the stadium is protected and would probably be of relatively little value to a property developer, and consider just for a second, the hotel that we are planning to build on the site which we need funding for in order to build.

Spot on Dave, some of the things people are saying before they've even seen the lad play is f*cking ridiculous

It's being said on here because it has been said on other forums. We're hardly likely to just ignore it. One of the first things i do when we sign a new player is go onto his former teams forum to see their opinion.

Ok, I kind of get all the concerns etc about York senior and it is a terrible story that happened at Cambridge City.
But honestly, tell me this.
Why would a property developer want Nene Park? In an area prone to floods, not exactly a great deal going on in the area, lack of local ameneties, looking like a double hit 2nd part of recession coming, falling land and property prices, demolition costs for the stadium, car parks, training area's etc, lowest mortgage approvals % relative to applicants in almost 50 years so no buyers market for a predicted 2-3 years etc, all this before even a sustained upturn is in effect at the usual 0.3 - 0.4% increase month on month for at least 18 months that shows a true sustained housing market recovery (not the current 4 month blip that is finally being shown to be the false dawn I for one know it is) can boost the market that would make this break even at the very least. Then there are the build costs, rising materials costs and labour cost increases all still oddly prevelant despite the recessive cloud overhanging the UK economy (let alone the rest of the globe!).
Buying into the club this "underhand through my son conspiracy" way, making the covenent payment to Griggs Group of £3million odd plus the above costs etc (if timescales like Camb City were replicated - ie 2 months after options taken by the club, they are told to get out).
What sort of idiotic business man in going to put at least £4million plus into the place without any return within at least 18 months, more likely 4-5 years to get to break even/full completition of building works/sales - particularly with nowehere near the returns that were reported on the Cambridge City Ground in a high density, high growth, close to a major city centre location - do any of you really believe that Nene Park land is worth any where near as much as this, as either land or as development potential? I know our land the club own is that much bigger and more houses could be built, but that will be offset by the vast house price difference per sq ft for the respective areas valuations. No sane small to mid size turnover valued business man in this current economic shit pot climate is going to put £3 to £4 million in hoping to get a minimal return at the end of 6-8 years by time of completition, the banks are no longer in a position to support this sort of mid term investment anymore.
Get real peeps. Stop being so bloody American.
Conspiracy theories. Pah. A bit of common sense soon puts those heretics to bed.

Conspiracy theories are what make forums like this go round, see how this board has picked up since Max Yorks signing, before that tumbleweed was all that was passing through.
I know the word Property developer sends the footy fan into a frenzy of arm waving and foaming of the mouth however they are not all demons and even Max Yorks father is not the devil incarnate and as the previous post illustrates Nene Park is not a property developers dream in any stretch of the imagination.
No club chairmen are total mr nice guy or they would not have made their fortunes in business, if he join our board so be it.

Not if they get out of control and get stupid and then get taken as fact, they aren't.

Despite the Count's lengthy post nobody was saying that anything was likely to happen to Nene Park.
All that I pointed out in my initial post was that Max's father had 'history' with Cambridge City's ground and I understand that his company was also involved, along with George Rolls, in a failed attempt to purchase United's ground from John Howard's property company.

Actually I was referring to the statement in general. Should have been clearer.
