Re: 5th May - Hillier Cup Final
This is a strange feeling. We're playing our biggest rivals, in a cup final, at a neutral decent stadium... But I can't get up for it!
I'm so gutted from Monday, I can't even bring myself to watch the highlights or give any comments on the St Ives match. Soul destroying. Hope our big players stick with us next season!

Is it bad I've looked forward to every game I've been too this season more than this one! I can see it being a one way result, but after playing a hard fought game the other day there's no surprise.
I think the strangest thing will be the atmosphere.. All of a sudden it will be like nothing has changed and there will be a fierce rivalry and all the past songs will appear..
Sam smith, Ladak and who knows, kurt Robinson, Osano...
Yaaaawwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn

Yeah, I was looking forward to this game, our biggest rivals at an actual stadium, but Monday has pretty much killed any kind of anticipation for it now really, hope we try and get behind the team the best we can though.

Re: 5th May - Hillier Cup Final
2 months ago I cared so much about this game, now I'm so apathetic it's frightening. Still haven't recovered from throwing it away on Monday.
No doubt who the favourites to win are tonight. No doubt which club will be more successful in the long run. Different clubs, I know which one I'd rather be a supporter of.
Let them have their glory tonight by beating our reserves. We will see who wins when we play them in the league in 1-2 years. Now that will be a game I'll be up for. There's two clubs in Northamptonshire with credibility and history, and there's one who always have and always will be in the shadows. One friendly result won't change that.

It's hard there's only so much heart ache I can take in a week! (on top of my heart burn caused by poor diet and too much beer)SouthRushdenJFC wrote:Dowlo, Jaff get a grip you pair of pussies. This is a Cup Final. I'm almost ashamed of you both

Think it's worth bringing this up. As per the FA, as a phoenix club, we're a reformed club:

That's absolutely correct. I should have said when was the last time R & D played them. Usually I am one of the most vociferous when it comes to stating AFC R & D are not the same as R & D FC. So much so that the stupid chant of "your not famous anymore" from the St Ives fans in both games at their place annoyed me.Rushdenjim wrote:Trek wrote:We've never played them!sussexdiamond wrote:

Re: 5th May - Hillier Cup Final
Even revisiting the post from 2012 the debate over 'reformed' and 'new' could run and run. It's certain that Ploppies supporters don't regard us as rivals anymore.
I think they were the one to instigate the rivalry in the first place and recall the match in the Conference at Nene Park in the mid 90's after we'd given them a 5-1 mauling at the Rockinhorse shortly after Talbot was installed as manager. They were very aggrieved, and indeed jealous, that Max had formed RDFC and invested millions and regarded it as a serious threat to their club's future. Many KTFC fans that evening sported badges that said 'We can't be brought Max'.
Now they just regard AFCRD as another club in the same county and that suits me just fine. It may be in years to come if we end up in the same league and play many matches that a proper 'derby' rivalry might develop.
