A really entertaining game. I thought we were excellent in the first half and should really have been more than 2 goals ahead by the break. Acquaye, Akubuine, Dove, Slinn and Casey all impressing besides the usual suspects. Akubuine showed why he should perhaps have had more involvement in the team to date, whilst Dove won a hell of a lot in the air up against the enormous Charlie Wise, formerly of Banbury.
Second half we took our foot off it a little and let a very aggressive but defensively weak Corby side get back in to the game when we really should have been out of sight, but we recovered to score a third (with a lot of help from their Goalkeeper who misjudged the flight of the ball) and saw the game out fairly well with a lot of young lads on the pitch.
Not a competition I particularly want us to progress in given the possibility of some dreadful midweek draws, but important to stop the run without a win and the fact we managed to do it without a few key players, and with youngsters involved, made it sweeter.
Ref was dreadful all night for both sides.
