It was a scrappy game on a poor pitch but the late winner made the long trip worthwhile. We struggled a bit against the wind in the second half but battled until the end.

Important narrow win in what seemed like, from Radio Diamonds commentary, difficult conditions.

We remain second in the table as St Ives Town beat Kings Langley 2-0 but Royston Town, who I still regard as serious challengers, drop two points at home to Uxbridge.

An away match against a good side, a fair distance for the team to travel, in difficult conditions, sometimes, a season is defined by a result like today. That is an excellent 3 points. That will keep the chasing pack on their toes. COYD.

Was listening in on Radio Diamonds (brilliant commentary btw Paul and Bruce) and was so delighted when Claudio hit that winner :clapping:

Tuesday is looking really exciting, 3rd placed Chalfont travel to Aylesbury FC (8th) who haven't lost at home yet, whereas Chalfont have lost 4 times on their travels. Interesting !

Royston (5th) travel to Barton 14th) who are hit and miss at home, anything could happen there! Royston are hit or bust away, won 5 lost 3!

Kings Langley (7th) at home to Beaconsfield (9th) KL lost just 1 at home, I expect them to win.

We have St Ives who have lost just once away from home - it'll be a close game, just hope the weather eases up and it's on ! Great chance to make a real statement. Exciting isn't it :good:

The way things are going we may struggle to find enough senior players on Tuesday. We had three youngsters on the bench with about 5 minutes of league action between them, and with Lewis Leslie picking up a knock that called for his immediate withdrawal we may have to rely on 12 of today's 13 to shake off the effects of the two games on very heavy pitches. Two of those three youngsters had played (and scored) in the English Schools Trophy game for AFC / MAA U18 on Friday.

Maybe we should pray for rain then and get it called off?

It was certainly one of those games where you can't really mark any player down as it was a real struggle on a pitch in such poor condition, but I think Bunting and Harris played particularly well, as did Liversedge. There were signs of some good link-up play, with Berwick linking well with Claudio, Leslie and Liversedge, but we were caught offside too often, especially in the second half when the ball was holding up well for runs past the Rams defence.
