It's a shame because I don't like to lose any fixture but really this competition is a bit pointless, if all there is to look forward to is costly midweek trips to the southern and south-westerly teams. IIRC it's about £500 to not enter the competition, I wonder if any clubs have just done that?
Two didn't enter this year (Bideford not surprisingly, can't be bothered to work out who else), but last year it was 4.
Good to see that the club have lowered prices for tonight.

Full-time 4-1 - not a big loss to be honest. Glad there aren't any more fixtures we have to arrange.

Only positives were that Dom Lawless looked like the player we thought we'd signed in patches, and the young lads Ackroyd and Harvey didn't look out of place, particularly Harvey who looked really useful and was the clear MOM for me. Anyone know anything about him?

Another positive might be that one or two simply aren't good enough and fortunately we've found that out in a RI Cup game rather than anything meaningful. Is that a positive?

Hopefully the result doesn't affect the confidence/form of the regular first team players. Forget it and move on.

Towards the end of the game it looked like being only the third time we had failed to score at home (St. Andrews and Yaxley last season) until we were awarded a penalty. Like BartonRaz said, one to forget but a good chance for the management to have a look at some of the young lads in a first team match

Agree James Harvey in particular had a really good game, I was surprised when he was taken off. Don't know anything about him except that he's played in the last few U21 games, if he's playing like he did tonight he will soon be pushing for a place on the first team bench.

Arguably he's better off playing for the 21's and getting game time than bench warming for the first team. By all means get him on the bench when the 21's don't have a game.

Certainly Harvey was the standout youngster. Shame the game was effectively over in the first few minutes when the 'red sea parted' (sorry I meant our defence) and we were unable to pull a goal back before half time. It showed that we are going to need to sign a replacement central defender to cover for Jack Ashton's enforced injury lay off.

Mal's pics are added to Paul's Report.

The video for the game is worth a watch if only for the post-match interviews with Peaksy and Courtney Herbert, which are both illuminating.

Brian Page has stepped down as their manager. Local Corby lad and he has done a great job as their manager over the last 3 years or so. I think they may be having financial difficulties.
