Just got back from Eynesbury. That was a backs to the wall job in the second half.
Well played to Matty for sticking the penalty away right at the death. I wonder how many could actually watch

Thought Eynesbury made us look very poor, especially in the second half. But it's three points at the end of the day, I'll take that!!!!

That really was the latest of latest wins! Good solid performance in the first half was not continued into the second. First came from a string of corners as Gearings whipped one in that was headed home by the full-back. Looked like we would hold on, even though Eynesbury had a few chances in the second. The goal was curled into the top corner from Bassett, unstoppable for Finlay. The belief was there to get the winner after that though and it came from a moment of madness from their keeper. Merrill won a ball on the halfway line by clearing it long and high, it held up dropping on the edge of the box. Dunkley won the header but the keeper rushing out clattered into him, one of those ones you never seem to get even though it was a foul. Brilliantly dispatched by Gearing even if the keeper did get a hand to it. Any wins will do at this stage even if we made hard work of it. One question at the moment is how long will Peaksy persist with Berwick? Has only shown glimpses of what he's capable of and only scored one goal. Lorraine and Turner must be wondering what more they can do. I'm sure they'll start on Tuesday but they wont want to be bit part players until the end of the season

It was almost a repeat of the Thurnby away game, when we also badly missed Adam Confue. Eynesbury were much the better side in the second half, and it took a great save from Finlay to prevent them getting an added time winner, only for Joe Merrill to make a vital interception on what looked like it might be a four v three break, and hit a great ball in to the area that resulted in the penalty. Both of Gearing's last two penalties have almost been saved, but there was just enough power to get a late win we barely deserved - and perhaps that's what you need in a promotion hunt.
Perhaps getting out of jail this afternoon will highlight that we need to strengthen for the run-in - and I agree that Tom Lorraine doesn't deserve to be on the bench behind Berwick.

I said exactly that about Thurnby when Eynesbury scored, I could see us losing all three points at that stage. Credit to the lads though for the way they battled to the end to get the reward, an old adage I know, but it is the sign of a good side to win without playing to your full potential.

Bassett shouldn't have been on the pitch to score the equaliser, but he'd have had to shoot someone to get a second yellow with that ref.

Yeah that was a very bad late challenge, still at least the ref didn't bottle the penalty decision, some would have.
