Interesting that the Police are dealing with the parking situation. Most places it's the responsibility of the Local Council. Makes you wonder what makes Long Buckby so special to receive their attention. Google street view shows a fair bit of verge parking so perhaps locals are exempt.

Since that street view was taken in 2009 they've put small posts all the way along the verge from the station to the village to stop people parking there, as part of a general clamp down on verge parking.

The Poppies fans saw what happens if they park on verges when the police clamped down in Burton Latimer.

The difference was yellow lines on the carriageway and fans didn't understand that the verge forms part of the highway. I don't think people should ever park on grass verges or footways but this is usually left to the LA to enforce or ignore. In London it is automatically an offence.

Hope I'll find somewhere to park so as I can drop my lad off to face your lot on the pitch again!! :D
Last time was in the U18 League at Woodford when he scored 2 goals and set up the 3rd in a 3-2 win against your U18s. (Still on You Tube!)

If your dropping him off you will not need anywhere to park just somewhere to pull over, but if you intend watching him then a parking place will be required, though I would say if you intend being there while he gets 2 goals against us again may I suggest the LONG STAY car park, and don`t forget to re - tax and insure your car before you go back for it.

He's not! Only one of them plays. The other is the manager.

My lad will be the one taking free kicks and corners (and banging the goals in! ;) )

Parking tip.... coming from the station end, take the right hand turn immediately after the rugby pitches and park in the car park on the right, next to the rugby pitch.

One son manager, the other one taking free kicks and corners

Seriously, I've seen Dan's posts on Facebook and he comes across as a bright, forward thinking coach. Not like the the usual sweary mary dinosaurs some teams have.

On the parking tip, with there be a Rugby match on which could affect your tip?

You're right about Dan- he is madly passionate about football, but realises Buckby are not quite ready for this league at the moment. He has a lot of talented young players but no 'men'. Teams need a mix in this league.
Hopefully the rugby team will be playing away, otherwise the parking will be a nightmare all around.
