His playing career with the Ploppies amounted to 1988-92 = 91 games 1992-94 =26, a grand total of 117 games over 7 years. With Roger Ashby at the top on 662 I would guess KS would come in around the 200 + mark in all time appearances with it being likely over half of those above him never having had a Testimonial. Was he some great star for them? 117 games in that amount of time would possibly suggest he either had major injury issues, or for much of his time was not even 1st choice, or was that the era of the 20 game season.
Now call me an old cynic if you like but, na just call me an old cynic. The Ploppies give a Testimonial to a ex player/coach who played 89 games more for them than us, and I would expect the time he spent coaching at Diamonds far exceeded that at Rockinghorse Road, said person is Chief Executive of NFA, Ploppies may possibly be looking at a funding requirement at proposed new ground, never know may become the new home of NFA as present base reportedly out grown. Offer 2 x 10% of surplus to Swain Benevolent & Dale Roberts Memorial as a tempter to all local non Ploppies, sure that`s after extensive set up and organisation costs have been taken out!!, 40% goes to the "lets keep baling Ploppies out fund" ironic but bale out is on same page in Oxford ED as Ballocks, as they use an a not a o.
Nice touch I would have to say, can`t wait for the new Ploppy home with i`m sure a main stand being named "The Shoe-in Stand".
As an alternative suggesting, when said game is played, we all meet down the D&D have a few drinks watch the grass grow and on way out but £10 in a bucket 100% of which can go the The Dale Roberts Memorial Fund.
An old cynic who hopes the is no truth in any of the above assumptions but sadly has his doubts.
Top post and my thoughts exactly when I heard about it. I almost posted something similar the other day but I didn't want to question the sincerity of the whole thing given the DRMF stands to benefit.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Agree BR & wasn`t sure about posting it, but i`m more than happy to give to The DRMF anytime, put a bucket in Dales bar i`d chuck my change in every week, in total confidence that George & Isabel will be using 100% wisely. But the idea doesn`t sit well that with the planned split every £1 of our money that goes to DRMF £4 goes to them to spend on players wages or any other expenses they may be incurring. If Shoey is so desperate to chuck money at them just do it off the record after the event, don`t insult every non Ploppy supporter who may attend by tempting us with a nominal % to a cause which he knows means a great deal to many, then off set it with a "up yours of the £10 you just handed over £4 is going in the Ploppy Pot". I didn`t post it initially to have a pop at Shoey, however if the wording is correct in the NT report and he had twice asked former Chairman about giving him a Testimonial  , then that may have changed. The whole idea is so bizarre even some of those good people from Ploppy Town are questioning it`s credibility, though others are already planning 2 Matches! no doubt to maximize that 40%.
