WWODB and ID........
can i have a prize if the team i picked when this all came out turns out to be right?!?!
i said it would be turley, bignot, hunter, warburton, underwood, hall, butterworth, mcelhatten, burgess, darby and lowe!!!
only one i'm slightly worried about is lowe/collins!
something like 'all time XI champion predictor' below my name would go down a treat!
seriously though, isn't it great to look back on some of the top quality names that have represented R&DFC with pride? makes me feel proud as ever to be RDFC!
lets hope that if this question is posed again in 10 years time, we're talking about some of the players who took us back into the league in the early 2010's!

So, only 3 people haven't voted for Butterworth at the time of writing if my Maths is correct (which it probably isn't).
I'm one of them.
He would have been my 3rd place, but McElhatton was IMO the best we have had, and i've always had a soft spot for Wardley after he scored the (great) goal that got us promoted at Carlisle, the same game in which he was cruelly injured.

I'm one of the others, and I went with the same as you.
If Wardley hadn't got injured he would have gone on to be a brilliant player for us.
I remember I had got his name on my shirt a few weeks before his injury (was the only time I've ever got a players name), so must have jinxed the poor fella.

I'm astonished by the low number of votes for Mann - class act, 100% committed, a goal almost every 3 games from central midfield (some strikers would kill for that ratio!) and would be the 2nd name on my all time Diamonds teamsheet if I was manager behind Darby!!
Mann and Butts for me.......
I'm not gay!

Again, it's the issue of when the majority of voters began supporting the club, and I imagine most wouldn't have ever seen Aidy Mann play. I imagine Darren Collins will be 3rd, at best, in the striker vote, despite being comfortably our record goalscorer.

Darren Collins was flamin' quality, but for my money Duane Darby (for work rate, rapport with the fans, and goals scored at crucial times) and Onandi Lowe (best player IMO we ever had) were better.
It's all relative. Aidy Mann and Darren Collins scored goals in lower leagues than Lowe and Darby.

True, but the vote should surely go to the player who contributed the most (in whatever way) at the particular level he played at. We've had
better players than the likes of Warburton and Butterworth (by virtue of them playing at a higher level), but the two of them are comfortably on top of their respective categories. I admit it is slightly different with the strikers, as we have 3 outstanding candidates whose careers at the club peaked at different levels. I'm not arguing against voting for the likes of Darby or Lowe ahead of Collins, just that a player whose achievements were at a higher level is not necessarily more deserving of the vote.

Congrats to Garry Butterworth and Michael McElhatton who go into the team.
The left midfield vote will appear later today.
