Leeds United...

NO debate, its a fact that you CANNOT support two teams. Either R&DFC or LUFC it cannot possibly be both. How can anybody support two teams if in the (un)likely event they meet in the league/cup in the future? Its all bollocks.[/quote]
I support 2 teams :
1). RDFC - I am season ticket holder. I Try to get to games when I visit the UK. Those that I cannot get to, I listen to over the internet.
2). Puiseux-Louvres - My mate plays for them (RB). I go watch them play most of their home games. It's a local town team where I lived the first four years in France.
Clearly the two teams will never meet each other, and I get equal enjoyment from watching both of them. I guess the two teams are so unrelated that It is like supporting teams from two different sports.

Two teams that cannot meet aren't the same as "supporting" two that can meet. Where does a REAL supporter go on a Saturday? Elland road or Nene park?
You're knocked out with who I am,
Look at you now, you're all in my hands.

Re: Leeds United...
Totally agree with that RH. It all goes down to symatics though.
I have supported MUFC since the age od seven. I however 'followed' and continue to follow R&DFC as a matter of choice. Thats didn't stop me going at games at either a Scream & Yell to 'support' with a small (s) my second team

Is wwodb lying then?!
The same applies to a few other people on this messageboard.
I don't support two teams, and I presume you don't either, RH - so neither of us are in a position to judge the validity of it. We don't know what it's like, they do, end of. I'll take they're word for it.

I went to my first Spurs game when I was about 7 or 8 so 1998/99 time, and I went to my first Diamonds game in 2003 so I suppose people would say a Spurs fan who follows Diamonds but I consider myself a fan of both teams regardless of whatever anyone else's views are.

Re: Leeds United...
Right, I posted these on grassroots in response to our support base and what is available that could support an increase, and I feel its important to put it on here. See the bit in bold, underlined especially:
The population of Rushden was 25,000 in 2001 (believed to be around 30,000 now), not forgetting Higham Ferrers next door (7,000). Irthlingborough has a population of 9000. So the population base is roughly 41,000 - 46,000, which isn't bad. This doesn't include the villages and other areas, but we could have more people coming than we do currently. I'd throw in Wellingborough only 10 minutes away with a population of 75,000.
My point is that rebuilding the attendences over time will be a long term project, but there is a base to do it. Perhaps our biggest problem is the relative age of the club. A return to league football and offering people a good product would over time cause people to come. If we can achieve that, gradually we will see more 1st generation fans start appearing.
Basically the parent who takes their child may be a fan of a premiership side and may just tag on, but over time if they bring their kids to the games because the football is affordable and of a decent standard, those kids will over time will become Diamonds fans as they attend the games more and more. We've already seen this happen from Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds getting at most a 100 - 200 each, to the current club stabilising to a core of around 1100 to 1200 home fans. Had we had another 5 years of Max, this core would be bigger since all those families that pulled out would still be here, meaning more kids would have built up a loyalty to the club.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.
