I'm sure far worse goes on at Chelsea, Leeds, Millwall, to name a few. Unfortunately swearing is part of being a football supporter.

The fact that we are arguably the biggest club in the UCL doesn't help as having larger attendances, means these issues will get noticed more often. It also doesn't help that whoever is behind the UCL Facebook page, decided to announce it either (which was only done because he or she knows our club creates debate on there!)

As I said I'm sure the board will take whatever precautions are necessary, that is why I voted for them to run the club.

Pigman I agree with what you are saying & I suppose this is another of my fears. What if all the volunteers get fed up ? what will happen then? Will any of the the abusive lads give up their time to cover the roles? I doubt it. If the club has to pay for stewards & the like, this will take a chunk of the match day takings etc so it will take even longer to raise funds for a site if our own.

What do you mean re point 3 Diamon_Wolfe? This is a ridiculous comment. If course there can be atmosphere without using the 'C' word. Surely people are able to string a few sentences together without resorting to 'f'ing etc all over the place. I will reiterate I am not a prude but I pay my money & I am entitled to watch a game without feeling embarrassed for the club at the impression we are giving to visiting teams etc. Again if "happy clappy" people want to come and bring their families to watch a local football match , which is their right, then surely it's better for people to be putting money into our club's coffers than Wellingborough's , Whitworth's or any other local club!

The point I was making that to expect people not to swear at a football match is ridiculous. I think everyone is in agreement that using the C Word excessively is not needed. When I was a kid I used to love the taking in the atmosphere which much of the time included swearing however It doesn't mean that i walk down the street effing and jeefing at every opportunity. I've been to most football grounds in the country and heard similar and worse on many occasions. Does it make it right? No it doesn't. Is it the way it has always been and always will be? Yes.

Why will it always be like that though? I think as a club we could make an effort to clean up the language if we wanted to. Some would say that as a community club it's something that we should be trying to do as a fanbase.

I've ran the line on the UCL many, many times, and the amount of swearing coming from the players mouths is appalling aswell. (towards officials, players and even spectators.)

I haven't been to a game since Cambridge City at home, due to family commitments.

I'll be going to the game on Easter Monday, and I'll be standing at the back, with my mates, having a sing song. This is the only time I've been able to get to a game, so after a whole weeks work, and having about 4 hours broken sleep due to a new baby wanting a a Scooby snack every night for the past 3 months, it's the only time I can let off some steam and have a good ol' swear at some random footballers.

I've heard the former at football grounds in every division, and all over the country, but the latter is very rare. You will hear a few c-words hurled around, certainly, at many games, but to have to resort to such a low-IQ c-word chant is something very few sets of fans seem to need to do.

I haven't been to many games this season, and if the 'c word' is being used too much in silly chants, then I agree, it shouldn't happen. (It shouldn't really happen at all, as its a horrible word.)

But if someone goes 2 footed into one of our players, then the last thing I'll be thinking of is 'oh, you silly man!) I'll be right in there with the C word, and the W sign...

Chelsea, Leeds, etc? I'm sure it does go on at these clubs but they have huge crowds & it is not heard as much as it's probably lost in the other noises of the fans etc. We have been in amongst local season ticket holders at Old Trafford & have not heard chanting like we hear at some of the home games, in particular the last few games. We are AFC Rushden & Diamonds & yes we do have a large following and yes the swearing & name calling is louder because others around the ground aren't singing etc , but we are getting noticed for the wrong reasons.

I have no doubt that those doing the abusive chanting are passionate about the club and I am not so naive as to think there won't be any swearing at all but I think there has to be a point when enough is enough.

As you can see I don't write on here very often but I am really fed up and worried about the impact this could have on the club.

After a long day at work getting to read what wolf and godfather are saying it has hit the nail on the head, people let of steam at football... Always have always will, it's one of the only places a grown man has always become slightly more adolescent! Knowone will ever be able to control what someone says at football I'm afraid! Although certain vocabulary is not well received it doesn't make it right! It's something individuals in certain groups will have to try and mediate themselves!
