Who is going to police this on the day? As a volunteer steward, I would not be too keen to be continually pointing this out to supporters wandering round the ground with a beer in their hand. I think a seperate thread on this may be required since the people serving in the Clubhouse and Dale's Bar need to be aware.Formic wrote:

This needs to be pointed out seperately on the OWS as not everyone reads match previews.

Rules are there to be broken ;)

I thought there was a cut off time that alcohol could be consumed within vewing distance of the pitch.Trek wrote:Who is going to police this on the day? These are FA rules for everyone in FA competitions and we must police this ourselves, we don't want people wanting to get us into trouble looking for things do we?

I'm not sure who that rule actually benefits. Our bar takings will probably be significantly down, the matchday experience won't be as good for those that usually drink, it's just silly, especially when you consider that at any other league game people are allowed to drink where they please.
Will this mean that Dale's bar will be shut?

It's nonsense at our level. I can't see our fans being very happy if they decide to drink on the decked patio area adjacent to the Social Club to be told to go inside. If there is the expected large crowd that place won't cope. Dale's Bar also won't function with more than half a dozen drinkers in there.
I can many fans deciding to drink in the D & D pub so lost revenue for the club.

It might be nonsense, but it's explicity in the FA Vase rules - a competition for our level - as follows:-
"Glasses, Glass bottles or cans containing alcohol are not permitted outside of the Clubhouse and must not be brought into grounds. No alcohol is to be consumed in the ground or premises during the period of any match, except as may be governed by the terms of the club licence with regard to its own members, but, not withstanding such, no alcohol is to be taken or consumed outside the licensed clubhouse or any other authorised area during such match period or brought into the ground."

Correct. Always applied at Nene Park. Bars stopped serving alcohol 15 minutes before kick off IRRC.Mat.H wrote:
