Re: Desperate measures.....
I would have thought they'd get a decent sized crowd at the weekend, Wrexham will bring a few and I'm sure with a new man on the horizon and potential new investment coming in that the Ploppy faithful should turn out in good numbers as well, I'd have thought close to 2,000 could be achieveable - hopefully Wrexham will stuff them too ;)
I'm fast getting bored of their "will they, won't they survive" saga - I've always thought that "someone" would help them out in the end.
What it has shown me is that I'm glad we're out of all that, we're not beholden to a businessman who may, or may not, have the interests of the club at heart. There is far too much baggage with Nene Park and the people associated with both KTFC and NP and I can't help thinking that all this has done is delay the inevitable date when they need to form their own club and take their own destiny into their own hands.
They can ridicule us all they like, I don't care, I'm having a great time and i couldn't have been prouder than I was on Monday night when we got that winner. The angst and worry they're going through is a thing of the past for us, their pain will continue - for now !

Re: Desperate measures.....
The optimism around GR is interesting - I suppose they have no choice but to dive in with everything they can.
Ultimately, his record speaks for itself and it isn't about him saving them for now - its about his long-term plans. After all, KC once told us the club was "safe in my hands" and it didn't take too long for that to change.
I agree wholeheartedly, I'd rather be us than them and that is all things considered.

Re: Desperate measures.....
Just think back to how we were when the Beeeezants came along, full of optimism and hope, believing the bullshit they were feeding to us, we even believed KC when he said we were debt free in December 2010 - tell you what, that guy must have hell of a poker face, no wonder Ladick sold his soul for NP thinking he's signed up for a Palace ;) !!
Rolls must have been handed the Beeeezant's speech they delivered to us and been told "the last bunch of mugs fell for this, try it again", its almost word perfect !! "Turn out and show your support", "sweat the assets", "we're putting money in" etc etc characters with a "history" surfacing saying the promised land is ahead, we have a cunning plan, its deja vu isn't it?
Saturday is a massive acid test - if they're honest with how they record the attendance and less that 1200 Ploppy fans turn up, then they're as doomed as we were and any fan's money they put into the venture is money they could have put to starting a phoenix club and will eventually be lost in large black creditors hole.
I don't blame them for grasping at Rolls, like a drowning man grasps for an offered hand, I just think that what is being offered to them is a slippery hand that will see them sink even deeper. Time will tell I guess.
I make no secret of my dislike of the football club and a large section of their fanbase, but as a football fan who has seen his club die, I honestly feel for the good decent fans, many of whom can see the crash coming, but just can't/won't jump from the vehicle, they're closing their eyes and hoping the eventual collision won't hurt too much. As a football man I feel for them.

Re: Desperate measures.....
Can't believe they are actually falling for his charm!
Hook Line and Sinker.
What a shame.
I seem to remember the Beeezants have similar discussions with our fans along these same lines?I was with exarmyboy1996 when we had along conversation with Mr Rolls today. All I can say is I now feel very positive about our club ( he has paid the rent +) and communication with the fans seems to be a priority to him.

Re: Desperate measures.....
Yep they did and some of us can't deny that we did indeed fall for it, and I can't blame them for having some hope and positivity about the future after the last few months of doom and gloom but they're living in a dreamworld if they really believe him or think he's their saviour, he lied at and fucked over Cambridge and Weymouth, lied repeatedly saying how he wasn't leaving Weymouth and wasn't going to K*ttering, someone on the Weymouth forum called him a compulsive liar, all he seems to do is lie, so why would he be any different now :?UttoDiamond wrote:Can't believe they are actually falling for his charm!

Oh and I like how any realistic post suspicious of GR on there gets shot down and gets accused of negativity and not supporting the club

Re: Desperate measures.....
Let's not forget that many of our supporters, and a few on this forum, fell hook line and sinker for the Beezants, and went to the extent of backing them to the hilt when they came under fire on here.
They're now desperate and I suppose there is always that 0.01% chance that Rolls could come up with the goods. From the outside looking in however, I highly doubt it.

Of course and no doubt they were laughing at us for doing so, but I'd think surely that would be a lesson to them and they have even more evidence than we had to not trust this guy at all. I do agree with you though, it's easy to look in from the outside to say it'll go wrong but for them I guess they're clutching at any hope they can get but I can't see how this'll have a happy ending for them.BartonRaz wrote:Let's not forget that many of our supporters, and a few on this forum, fell hook line and sinker for the Beezants, and went to the extent of backing them to the hilt when they came under fire on here.

Leopards do not change their spots, Rolls has a massive Ego and that won't go away, he will start being nice as Cambridge and Weymouth found out then he will start throwing his weight around and upsetting everybody.
2 Clubs who's fans were thrilled when he left just tells you something about the man in my opinion.

Re: Desperate measures.....
I remember when he was first appointed Chairman at Cambridge United after just a few months in a marketing role and one of the U's fans had him sussed and remarked 'how the hell has that idiot wormed his way into the Chairman's role?' Less than 6 months later he had departed after cocking up everything including losing Brabbins and appointing Ling as manager who then left after only days working with Rolls.
