at this rate we could have the 2nd best non league attendances in the area next season!!!!

went to thrapston vs Northampton Spencer, Spencer won 4-0, a couple of decent players, thrapston were all over the place really though.

Oh, and Formic, you were right, it was Aylesbury FC (previously Aylesbury Vale) who played at St Neots today, not Aylesbury United FC !

It's quite ironic that Aylesbury United were once the 'senior' club in the town and now ply there trade in the Spartan South Midland league. Thats football for you, as AFC R&D, more than many, sadly know.

3 of us ended up at The Hawthorns in the Norwich end, it was a decent game capped off with Jacko scoring the winner and celebrating right in front of us!!! Norwich looked much livelier when he was brought on and although it came from a defensive error it was Simeon's closing down that led too the error and he finished like we all know he can, all that for the bargain of £15!!

Very true Abbotsleysaint - I used to live a spit from Aylesbury United's Buckingham Road ground and watched them for many years, forgive me for going off-topic here, but they were once (for one season - 88/89) a Conference side - as I mentioned to Formic at the game on Thursday, I even watched them in June 1988 vs a full England squad, it was a warm up game for England's ill fated European Championship campaign - just to prove I'm not mad or making this up look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8JIhr9OmWA - I still have the matchday programme and all the National newspaper clippings - OMG I was only 25 years old !! (sigh). I think I'm right in saying its the only time a full England squad has played a non-league side like this.

England went on to abject failure in the Championship, as did Aylesbury in the Conference - you could say the game jinxed both sides eh?

I'd seen Cliff Hercules (who nearly scored the header in this clip) use this free-kick routine many a time, he was a prolific goal scorer in his day and nearly beat Shilton that day - over 6,000 crammed into Buckingham Rd to see that game - their demise over the years has been sad to see, all their problems started when a property developer "saved" them, we've all seen what can happen when that kind of scenario happens eh?
