Just thought I'd add a bit of context to Leicester Road FC, with this game being local to me...

Hinckley United were dissolved in October 2013, the club then split into two; Leicester Road FC and Hinckley AFC.

The petition to wind HUFC up was put in, by the former chairman Kevin Downes, and the remaining United directors, Michael Sutton, Paul Moss, Ku Akeredolu and Kevin Thompson, did not contest the order.

At the same time, the HUFC directors transferred the assets of the stadium into a separate company owned by only them, rather than all HUFC shareholders, so it couldn't be sold off to pay creditors. (This is the clean version, there are a number of articles out there about this...)

The new owners of stadium therefore, had to invent a football club to play at the stadium, they had purchased. Leicester Road FC were formed in the November of 2013 (a month after the demise) and they began competing, at the stadium as a step 7 club for the 2014/15 season. The board decided to add 'Hinckley' to the clubs name, creating a name club name and crest, mid-way through the 2021/22 season...https://www.pressreader.com/uk/hinckley ... 8337759446

Supporters of HUFC wanted nothing to do with the old directors, so they decided to create a new, supporter-owned football club. Hinckley AFC were born in the January of 2014 and currently play at step 6. This weekend, the club celebrated their 10th anniversary in front of a record league crowd of 390. (By comparsion, LR's average home attendance this season is 135 https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/nort ... ttendances) Hinckley AFC have sought ground shares at Heather, Ibstock and now currently Barwell FC, playing in Step 6 (and should be promoted this season).

The two clubs, LRFC and HAFC, have tried living side by side but LR have regularly blocked access to other parts of the football ground and its site. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-l ... e-35523737

So to put this in some sort of RDFC / AFCRD example, although it's not 100% the same situation...

When RDFC were liquidated, Keith Cousins and Helen Thompson decide to keep Nene Park. They then set up a brand new team (at the time AFCRD were being created) called Nene Park FC (as an example) and then, a number of years later add in 'Rushden' to the clubs name and crest, to entice supporters of RDFC to their new club.

I hope that puts things into perspective.... There's a lot more on this here... https://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/foru ... fied.7010/

If you're coming for the game this weekend, then LR will charge you to park (one of the only club's this season to do so), however you can park for free at Burbage Common or 'Acorns Coffee Shop' on Google Maps.

The ground is very easy to get to via train. Wellingborough to Leicester, Leicester to Hinckley and then a 40 minute stroll to the ground.

There's a number of decent pubs on the way.. The Railway has been recently refurbished, Elbow Room is a micro-brewery specialising in beer and cider and The New Plough Inn is decent. There's a lot of nice cafes in town too for a bite to eat.

Whilst I am absolutely onboard for Project 18th and the Great Escape, I was still interested to see the current state of play regarding the 2 reprieves that are available, due to the unfortunate resignations of Marske and Nuneaton. This is how the landscape currently looks (as of 13/02), with Hednesford and Grantham projected for a reprieve. Hopefully we can finish out of the relegation zone anyway, but should we just fall short we may have a chance of a reprieve at the end of the season if we continue this great form.

Team League GP Pts PPG
Hednesford Town NPLW 27 23 0.851851852
Grantham Town NPLE 26 20 0.769230769
Winterton Rangers NPLE 26 20 0.769230769
Erith & Belvedere ILSE 26 19 0.730769231
1874 Northwich NPLW 26 17 0.653846154
Gresley Rovers NPLM 28 18 0.642857143
AFC Rushden & Diamonds NPLM 26 15 0.576923077
Beckenham Town ILSE 23 13 0.565217391
Binfield ILSC 25 14 0.56
Corinthian-Casuals ILSC 26 13 0.5

Just to note, the table does not include the ILN, SLC, or the SLS as these leagues have either had resignations or only had one relegation spot anyway.

Really interesting. I knew Leicester Road and Hinckley didn't see eye to eye, but didn't know the background. Thanks.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Note their game tonight is off due to areas of the pitch being "Underwater", with more rain expected everyday between now and Saturday - one to watch!

Going to be a tough game but if we are on it who knows. Hinckley have one of the best players in the league based on what we have seen so far. The young winger, Nuttall looked really good against us at home. Never been before but their ground looks great.

From the NT:
‘Diamonds could have a new defender in the ranks for the Hinckley game with a Step 4 full back set to sign.

It is likely that he will replace the unavailable Pinto-Leite at left back with the Portuguese utility player missing this weekend’s trip to attend military service’

Interesting.

Nice to see a new face coming in,it's nice to see that the management team are still trying to make us a stronger unit which will stand us in good stead towards the end of the season.

I think he has been very good at fullback for us.

It's the same with tagoe to ge honest. There's been a few negative comments on here, noting that he's not a full back and although he inst, he's not really let us down and the team have been getting results since he's been asked to play there. Both only young lads who will only benefit from game time and playing alongside experienced defenders
