Membership to choose a new chairperson
Membership to choose a new chairperson
I’m joking of course. It sounds like we have to vote for who we are told.
Re: Membership to choose a new chairperson
Who we vote for will depend on how many put their names forward and meet the experience criteria to take the club forward for the next decade or so.

Re: Membership to choose a new chairperson
I’m not sure there are plans for a member vote on this
The new story talks about recommendations being made to the existing Board after discussions taking place in April.
Its not clear who will be making these recommendations, presumably the outgoing chairman etc

Re: Membership to choose a new chairperson
I agree, Matt. The membership have never been given the opportunity to vote for the Chairperson and this has always been left to the elected board members at the board meeting following the AGM.
Re: Membership to choose a new chairperson
To me it feels like the club is fast approaching a bit of a crossroads. With finances probably under real pressure due to lower gates and seemingly zero progress on a new home, can we remain competitive at this level? (or the one above!). If the performances and results drop off next season its not hard to imagine a vicious circle of lower gates leading to less money, a weaker squad then poorer results and so on. Did this possibility colour Peaksie's decision to leave? Could he see the writing on the wall?
In the light of this financial risk to the club's development why has the board not consulted the membership on seeking a new chairman who can bring in some investment? What have we got to lose? We have no assets to strip like before.

Simply our constitution does not allow it which was the problem that both Portsmouth and Wycombe had when they were fan run.nsman wrote: Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:23 pm In the light of this financial risk to the club's development why has the board not consulted the membership on seeking a new chairman who can bring in some investment? Re: Membership to choose a new chairperson
I'm not saying the new person should own the club or make loans to it that it could not repay. How does it affect our constitution to elect a chairman who then gifts some money each season to enhance the club and the team? For this we could surely allow that person a bigger say in the running of the club within the framework of the existing constitution.

Re: Membership to choose a new chairperson
That is highly wishful thinking and I doubt we would be able to persuade anyone who would gift us money without having a say in how this money is spent. Allan Leighton at Brackley Town, who largely bankrolls that club, seems to be the exception. All of a sudden we end up not being a wholly fan run club with 100% control of our destiny.nsman wrote: Thu Apr 07, 2022 12:09 pm How does it affect our constitution to elect a chairman who then gifts some money each season to enhance the club and the team?
