Manager has stepped down and Chairman says they may demote themselves to Step 5.

Always felt that this may be on the cards one day given the way they used to operate although the previous owner and his financial input have long since left the club. The people of St. Neots have never really backed the club except for during their title winning season in the Southern League Div One Central in 2011/12, having said that they have such excellent facilities for hire and a 3G pitch beside the stadium that must surely generate some income.

They're likely to get relegated on the pitch anyway, do they really need to go back to the UCL?
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

It's hard not to feel sorry for "hardcore" St Neots fans that are left.

They were kind enough to offer us senior football at a discount when we had no senior side, and also offered their ground as a possible home when we needed one.

They obviously enjoyed years of success on the pitch for a little while now, but as Raz has said this was always likely to be on the cards once the original backer pulled out.

The only saving grace is that their ground although smart and modern for non-league is relatively low maintenance. Throw in their 3G pitch and clubhouse they can generate extra revenue if they were to drop down, giving them the opportunity in the future bounce back up again in the future, if they so wished.

St Neots lost six players this week and today lost 5-0. Will they see out the season?

Be a good chance for some unattached or players playing at a level below, to put themselves in the shop window. But that's about it. Wonder how many they had on the bench yesterday?

A huge problem in non league football is a man comes along and wants to throw loads of money in to it and expects crowds to increase massively because they are winning, then they realise that it's harder to buy your way up the leagues than they thought, get bored and go.

What's left? a few hardcore fans who supported them before he came along and a club that isn't sustainable or affordable to them even if they didn't mind running it at a small loss.

The ones i really feel sorry are the fans who grew up watching that team with their parents / grandparents etc, had a wedding anniversary in the club house etc then the ground gets knocked down and all the memories are gone.

The FA should really look into ways to stop this happening or at least into ways to making sure that these clubs can safely get back into the hands of people who care about them! a club with less than 500 fans is never going into the football league ( :hehe: Yeovil have 502 ) and one or two men should not be able to go along for 5 years and ruin clubs that have been around for 80 years etc, in 4 years time we will be saying the same about Billericay.

St Neots have fantastic facilities and it would be great if they could somehow manage to survive, good luck to them, that ground hosting UCL football every week though is a such a waste but it's better than nothing.
  • Play it out from the back.
  • 1 up front.
  • Man gets one good result via a new manager bounce and thinks he's Pep Guardiola.

Looking as if St Neots are going to steer away from the voluntary relegation. Good news, St Neots being my home town, would have been sad to see such a good facility not operating at the level of its potential.

Have met a few if the directors at some networking events recently and they're genuinely a pretty decent bunch of guys. Just hope the restructuring job they have ahead doesn't affect their ability to compete.

There's some decent footballers in St Neots as well, so hopefully this could encourage them to give a chance to some local lads, something they've not really done in the past few years

That's is good news for St Neots. They have offered the hand of friendship to us over the past few years and so maybe we can help them in some small way by arranging a pre season friendly.

From a purely selfish perspective I am pleased they will see out the season as we would not want to lose the six points we got off them.
