Non league merry go round
Non league merry go round
Just looked at the Bedford Town team sheet for tonight's friendly V Hemel, would appear the St Ives team is not so much moving up more breaking up. Knight (the captain) Watson (presume Danny) and Phil Draycott all turning out for the Eagles, oh and Declan Rogers has turned up at St Neots.

They left because they couldn't commit to the travelling of the Southern Prem. Doubt they'd sign for us in the NPLD1S !

Without doubt the most common excuse used by players when leaving Clubs at this level, Declan Rogers left us for this reason at the end of 2014/15 season and returned to the UCL only to then sign mid season for a team in the same league as us and he's now appeared at St Neots in Southern Prem. I don't know anything about Knight but know Danny and Phil quite well they come as a pair 2016/17 Bedford Town, 2015/16 St Ives 2014/15 Leighton Town, 2013/14 Ampthill Town 2012/13 Kempston Rovers, not criticising but stating facts, some players move about a lot, grass in greener, £10 a game more, mates, manager, endless list of actual reasons but often one common excuse given, travel.UttoDiamond wrote:They left because they couldn't commit to the travelling of the Southern Prem. On player movement expect lots to be happening at ££££ Stamford over the coming weeks, the poisoned dwarf has a squad big enough to field about 3 teams so I guess when pre-season starts some may be sharp enough to realise they will not be making the team or bench and be making a rapid exit.

According to a post on their forum below is a list of players Stamford have registered for the coming season. As you say there may well be changes, but apparently all have agreed to stay on despite the re-relegation. Lots of familiar names for Diamonds fans, and frankly a seriously strong, experienced squad for this level of football. There can surely be only one reason the likes of Robbins and Malone have agreed to play at Step 4 (££££).Brownie wrote: On player movement expect lots to be happening at ££££ Stamford over the coming weeks, the poisoned dwarf has a squad big enough to field about 3 teams so I guess when pre-season starts some may be sharp enough to realise they will not be making the team or bench and be making a rapid exit.
Paul Bastock, Tom Batchelor, Lee Beeson, David Bell, Jon Challinor, Tom Cooney, Jake Duffy, Joe Elliott, Delroy Gordon, Andy Hall, Curtis Hartley, Sam Hill, John King,Jordan Lemon, Ollie Luto, Paul Malone, Niall Mather, Taylor McMillan, Kern Miller, Sam Mulready, Jordan Neil, Ryan Robbins, Elliot Sandy, Greg Smith, Jordan Smith, Bradley Wells

Do you not think that impressive list of players is not mostly due to the Charm, Personality and all round demeanour of the diminutive little S..t they have as Manager.BartonRaz wrote:According to a post on their forum below is a list of players Stamford have registered for the coming season. He won,t be able to keep all these players happy, at least 2 or 3 will leave in the first few weeks as they fall down the pecking order

Re: Non league merry go round
What is it with Graham Drury, going out of FA competitions then losing a load of players?
Immediately following Stamford's defeat at Hartlepool, Ryan Robbins left to rejoin Coalville, Tom Batchelor joined Grantham and now Jordan Smith is heading to Corby. Also from that list I posted a few months back David Bell is now at Corby, Paul Malone is at K*ttering, Greg Smith is at Boston United and of course Andy Hall is at Sileby.

I stand by the comment considering the lad had scored 17 goals already a couple of weeks ago for Bedford and Kempston. Surely he could be tempted?

How about Ben Mackey? Former St Neots, Corby, Hemel Hempstead and Leamington striker now turning out for Step 5 Coventry United. Scored 43 goals in the Southern League Premier for Hemel Hempstead 2 years ago!TwinkleToesTomlin wrote:TwinkleToesTomlin wrote:Id take Watson at Diamonds
