A couple of dry days might help, but with overnight frosts forecast it may just hold the water near the surface and not allow it to drain away.
I hope we can get the game on but I think it could be touch and go.

If this weather carries on much longer it won't be an issue because it will be below the waterline!Mad Dog wrote:Actually the barrier is an issue for staying in this league, not just the Southern Premier. We need to get in place by 30th March.

Re: [ Tue 22nd Dec ] v Egham Town, KO 7:45pm SL1DC HOME
Although we were guilty of missing chances again I thought that Egham dealt with the rapidly worsening conditions better than us. Having stepped up a level I think we lack a bit of nouse sometimes - hopefully this will develop over time. I'd have settled for 2nd in the table at Christmas before the ...

If the forecast heavy rain comes late afternoon/early evening it is likely to sit on top of the pitch rather than soak away which is a worry as it could mean either a very late postponement or even an abandoned game.

I'm not surprised. The water table is high at the moment and with the D & D being so low the water has nowhere to go.
Saturday's fixture must be a serious doubt as well with the forecast for this week.

Not sure how much rain we had overnight but it hasn't been as wet today as forecast. If it stays dry tomorrow with a moderate wind I think we have a chance of playing tomorrow. A lot of heavy rain is forecast for Thursday which might put Saturday's game in doubt too.

I think the over the top criticism of Herbert is unwarranted. Yes, he did miss the one on one, but he hasn't played for weeks so lacks match sharpness, I thought we looked more of a threat when he came on.

Re: [ Sat 31st Oct ] v Barton Rovers, KO 3pm SL1DC AWAY
Be prepared for some pretty severe speed bumps as you approach the ground after turning off the main road (unless they've been flattened in the past 12 months) Is the car park hard standing or grass? With the amount of rain we have had yesterday and today it could become quite boggy if it is the la...
