Using your rationale, there shouldn't be a fixture cancelled anywhere in the country because of the weather.

Re: I'm half way through reading............

I was looking at an old programme last evening and in Tony Jones column for the Port Vale match, our final fixture that season, in May 2004 he said that a follow up book entltled 'The End of an Era' was planned for release in August 2004. That obviously never happened but it would be interesting to ...

Re: Where have all the fans gone?

Then the money went, that awful day in January when we let our best players go in one afternoon and then the painful drop from the league etc. That just about sums it up. One small point it was actually March 2004, deadline transfer day, when Underwood, Bignot, Lowe and Hall departed. OBN had jumpe...

Re: K*ttering in 8 days

Pitch inspection Friday morning?! It does seem to me that they aren't exactly 'desperate' for the game to go on, there's no hint of the usual 'we're doing everything we can to get it on' that we see from other clubs. With a slight predicted rise in temperature to a maximum of 4C and the possibility...

Irish Diamond wrote:Whatever happend to Jones? Am I right in thinking he fell out with the board?
He had plans to be part of a rival consortium when the Essex 3 almost brought the Club in the summer of 2004.

I believe he still watches the Club on occasions and I saw him leaving the ground a few times last season.

I did read that Tony Jones had plans for a follow up book but that idea hit the buffers when Max put the Club up for sale in October 2003.
