That's a bit misleading. It was the guy who had been caretaker manager at Tamworth for a week or so that left of his own accord to pick up the reins at Hereford.

Given the decent attendance at this game, albeit forced on us by R & H’s Vase fixture the following day, here is an interesting article on why in non-league crowds are very healthy for Friday evening matches. I recall that we had a very good crowd when we played Yaxley in the UCL at the Dog & Duck on a Friday evening.
