The FA have announced today that Hyde United will be promoted to Step 3 alongside South Shields and Scarborough, as they are now officially team with best ppg.
In Steps 1-4 there are not many games tomorrow to decide Champions/Runners Up.

In Steps 1-3 only Champions get automatic promotion.

Step 1 Macclesfield

Step 2 North Salford City

Step 2 South Havant & Waterlooville and Dartford are level on points. H&W GD + 39 Dartford + 36

Step 3 Altricham, Billericay and Hereford all confirmed as Champions.

Step 4 South Shields and Scarborough, Basford and Alvechurch, AFC Hornchurch and Taunton.

To be decided tomorrow in the Bostik North any two from four: Potters Bar 87pts, Bowers & Pitsea 86, Haringey Borough 86, Heybridge Swifts 84

Bostik South top two are Carshalton 99pts and Lewes 98pts.

Oh and then there is the little matter of who wins the Southern League East Division to be decided.

Hayes & Yeading now have the best PPG, replacing Hartley Witney, so all they have to do is to win their semi final of the playoffs against Cambridge City this Wednesday and they will be guaranteed promotion even if they lose the final.

Now that's just a daft arrangement as there's no incentive for a final? Does it mean Hartley would be promoted if they win their semi and are due to play H & Y in the final?

No Robin, Frickley Athletic are the next best 3rd placed PPG in the NPL1S on 1.952 incidentally the same PPG as Hartley who finished 4th in the league.

Look at the table on the far right of this document.

So out of these 24.

12 will be losing semi finalists
6 will be promoted as playoff winners

Whichever losing finalist is highest of this lot also goes up.

With Hartley Wintney lost there last game, makes Hayes & Yeading in prime position, what would happen if the highest losing play offs finals club ended up with the same PPG with another team.

Ie, if Hartley Wintney and Frickley Athletic both lost in the play off final, (who would go up) would it be down to GD etc, or would they have a match to decide who goes up.

I would suggest that Frickley Athletic would get promoted, in these circumstances, as they finished 3rd in the NPL1S whereas Hartley finished 4th in the SPL1E.

In any case I'd say there it is unlikely there would be an extra match - the whole "losing finalist" business was probably cooked up in the first place specifically to avoid adding extra games to the calendar.

Hayes & Yeading's PPG turns their semi final against Cambridge into their final - win and they are up.

An even stranger situation would be if Frickley lost their semi final and Hayes and Hartley both won theirs - it would turn the ESSE playoff final into a dead rubber as the loser would be going up anyway. For the sake of the integrity of the competition, I hope this doesn't happen.

Frickley lost their semi-final 2-1 against Stamford tonight. :hmmm:

As Frickley lost, if Hayes & Yeading and Hartley Wintney both win there semi final, their both promoted, (what's the point of them playing each other)
