A thoroughly well deserved victory in a game we dominated. Dolman our clear player of the season comes to the rescue again. Oulton has to be starting every game he brings a bit of genuine class into our centre midfield. For somebody who usually takes far to long to make substitutions the early one of Lorraine was very strange he genuinely brings nothing to the team.

What a result, stark contrast from Tuesday. Still lots to be done but I'm feeling more confident we can do it than I was the other night!

Sorry but I can't agree with your comments about Lorraine. I thought we looked more likely to score when he came on and he ran his socks off.Rushden123 wrote:A thoroughly well deserved victory in a game we dominated. That's got to be the best home performance all season (excluding games against the rubbish teams at the bottom of the league). Makes a nice change to leave the Dog & Duck with smiles on our faces. If we can keep up that level of performance I'm sure we'll reach our target.
I noticed Dolman was hobbling during most of the second half. I sincerely hope he's OK for Monday.

Yea he caused problems did Tom Lorraine when he came on, more than jack bowen did who doesn't look the same player as last season. Farrell and Quigley were outstanding in the midfield as was Bunting until he had to go off, Oulton then carried on where he left off and was unlucky to not get on the score sheet. Another mention has to go to Matt Finlay who again proved why he's number one, didn't have a lot to do the first half until they were awarded a penalty. Even though it was tame, he still had to guess the right way to keep it out. Also made a great save from their free kick late on. Taylor orosz also worked his socks off when introduced, so I'd think peaksy will be having a selecting headache ahead of Monday. Also greenaway with razor-toothed, that it was the team has played at home this season.BartonRaz wrote:Sorry but I can't agree with your comments about Lorraine. If we can play that back four plus Finners in the remaining games we must have an excellent chance of not only reaching play offs but getting to final.
Then its anybodies guess!!
FYI First 20 games 9 wins 9 draws 2 defeats Last 20 games 10 wins 1 draw 9 defeats.

Was very disappointed after Tuesday and felt like we might have blown it, but wasn't quite ready to join those saying it was over because a win today would take us straight back into the top 5 and I'm glad I didn't completely lose hope because it was exactly the performance and result that we needed today, great stuff, the passion and desire was back and we could have scored more, some great performances, thought Quigley had a particularly good game in the middle and Finners made match winning saves, but everyone played their part I'd say
Two more cup finals, but both are very winnable against teams that are in mediocre form, we can do it!

I agree with the comments about Tom. He worked his socks off. The sub was made at the right time to make a meaningful impact.TheIncognitoKid wrote:Yea he caused problems did Tom Lorraine when he came on, more than jack bowen did who doesn't look the same player as last season. In all fairness, I didn't see much from Newcastle. The only chances their had were from our own doing (peno, dodgy back passes and some terrible kicking from Matt). They have lost 5 of their last 6 games now including defeats to us, Lincoln twice and Shaw Lane. With Leek and Basford to come they could end falling away rapidly. On reflection, their league position was probably inflated by the lack of top 8 games played. They could still do us a favour against Basford though.
Stockbridge are on fire now, so it's realistically between us, Basford and Lincoln now. We go again Monday
