I second that. They deserved the three points after our dire effort. Don't mean to slag players off at this early stage, but Simmonds, Spence and Miller look like being shocking replacements for the players who've left. I can sympathise slightly with Miller, he looked a little nervous and will proberbly improve. But i don't think it'll be long until the other two are out of the team, not good debut's at all. and maybe another thing, how the f*** is Rene Howe at Peterboro?
On a more positive note, Alan Power had a decent debut and won the penalty, not that that matters with this team! Defensive line did generally well and i think MOM has to go to Osano, he was solid at the back. Roll on Bath! :roll:

Thought Miller was poor, as was Simmonds, but I'll give Miller the benefit of the doubt, because as someone else said he looked nervous.
We never looked like scoring, and were lucky that we got a late equaliser.

Miller should not be critised since he's been injured most of the preseason.

I personally think that Fleetwood could be up there at the end of the season. They are a well organised unit and have the funds behind them to do well.

I disagree. I didn't think Fleetwood were anything near worth all 3 points. It was a general hoofball game that just didn't suit our formation. I can only recall one shot on target from us during open play all game. The goal and penno came from dead ball situations.
Howe looked lost out wide as did Simmonds. Farrell wasn't given a decent service all game. Another absolutely shite penalty whacked at easily savable height. What are we teaching these professional players? Keep it low and in the corners. As for their goal well it was gifted to them on a plate, head away not across your own goal. Poor stuff really, we must adapt the formation to suit the players. I'm sorry Justin, 4-3-3 wasn't working and you must change it in those situations.
On the plus side we kept going until the 94th minute and gained a point.

If we're doing positives then Osano and Stuart looked immense in defence and it was only a slip that led to their goal.

I agree that Osano and Power did well overall, but Stuart was MOM in my opinion.

I think Miller plays the game too slowly and i'd prefer Corcoran in that position if everyone were fit, but i dont think he necessarily had that bad a game.

I also agree with the sentiments re: Spence and Simmonds, both were dreadful, although i'd say Spence slightly edged it for dreadfulness.

I didn't think Spence was poor at all really, not amazing, but no complaints about his performance personally. Johnson did no better coming on and playing the same role. I also thought Spence's set piece taking was much better than Farrells.

Miller has missed most of pre-season and should be given more leeway than other players. Corcoran filled in well at left back all things considered, and the attacking side of his game has come on a long way.

We lacked shape as a whole in the midfield though, and this was evident as we dragged the game to the right hand side of the pitch more than the let in the first half, and then the right more than the left in the second. In fact it tended to be the side Rene Howe was on, so the players had probably clocked about Simmonds early on!

After Charles came on, apart from adding energy to the game, Howe was compeltely different, it was like he finally understood his role, and that gave him confidence, and he was influencial in the play in getting a spell of pressure at the end which resulted in the goal. These two must both play the next game if fit IMO.
