Congratulations to the lads that played this afternoon in horrendous conditions. Credit to the club.

The bad weather did n`t halt the flow of goals however.
The U14 Rebels scored 7 without reply at Weekly, whilst those at Kennedy`s were treated to an interstellar display by Cosmos as they beat Aztecs 11 -0.
Two stories of note here. The influential Munasche Chirimuuta missed nearly all of last season with a freak ankle injury, so it was great to see that he scored himself a couple of goals this afternoon, welcome back Nashie.
Harry Byrne scored 4 in this game, but he won`t be the only one celebrating in the Byrne household . Younger brother Matt scored a hat-trick in the U11 Bees 7-0 win against their counterparts in the Hornets. Hope Mr Byrne has got a big wallet.
In better conditions yesterday, the Under 7s Dragons and Magic both registered wins, 9-1 against Gt Doddington, and 2-1 against Finedon respectively.
It`s not all about the scorers though, as three out of five of the above teams won with clean sheets, so congrats to the keepers and their defences on a job well done.
The younger part of the Diamonds family are doing ok, and with a development pathway up to the senior team open for business , there`s no telling where some of these players could end up.
Forza Diamonds!!

FANTASTIC !!!! Well done to all our community teams - thats what this is all about :D

Also, well done to all the coaching staff etc that make all of this possible - without you guys and gals (and the parents ferrying the kids around everywhere) this wouldn't be possible. A terrific weekend for all then......................who do I sign my grandson up with, he was one this week, just planning ahead, his name is Alfie btw :D
RIP Dale Roberts - gone, but never forgotten !!

Absolutely right Piggers, we`re lucky to be able to work with such lovely people as our coaches, some of whom are in their sixth season with us. They understand the ethos of the club. It`s all about the players.

I have to say that they played in a bloody blizzard, there was not one moan from them, even the keeper that did almost nothing all game. I had a coat, hat, trousers on and was freezing, he was in shorts and thin shirt. They played as a team and stayed as a team throughout. They have my admiration
You're knocked out with who I am,
Look at you now, you're all in my hands.

Well, one thing you can predict is that youth football is not predictable, and so this weekend turned out to be.

On Saturday the Under 7 Dragons & Magic and the Under 8 Rovers played at Irchester and enjoyed matches against Irchester Romans, Great Doddington & Vicarage Farm respectively.

Scores are not recorded at these age groups.

Onto Sunday and the Under 9 Leopards recorded a fine 5-1 win over Grammarians Youth, Keanu Kaylan and Richard Spring getting two each with Callum Moffat making it a nap hand. Also at Under 9 the Tigers got that rare result 0-0 against Great Doddington, there was a 0-0 last week so perhaps it’s not so rare?

At Under 10’s the Bisons scored through Malise Dinsey and Michael Childs, their opponents, Grammarians Youth got 6. The Rhino’s scored one more; Charlie Broughton, Lica Diver and Logan Fisher getting the goals, Finedon Vics managed 7 at the other end.

The Under 11 Bees got a 2-2 draw against F.C. Aztec Braves, Brett Norton and Morgan Dinsey, making it a Dinsey double. The Hornets were not so lucky going down 2-0 at Higham Colts. The Wasps had a week off.

On to Under 13 and the Cosmos went to Corby Kingswood and got a bit of a battering, going down 12-2, Cameron Millard and Sam Adams scored the best two goals of the match, honest. A Devon Cottis double was not enough to get the Galaxy any points, Grange United running out winners 3-2.

The Under 14 Rebels has a week off.

At Under 15’s there were goals a-plenty. The Gladiators hit one through Josh Green, Burton Park Wanderers managed five. The Warriors hit four through Matthew Brookes, Danny Gallagher, Conor O’Brien and Jake Sevier, Grammarians though managed two for every one of ours.

At Under 16 another brace, this time from David Brazier, wasn’t enough as S&L Youth progressed in the County Cup.

All in all not a great week results wise but with sixty seven, yes sixty seven, goals across eleven Sunday games, it certainly wasn’t boring.

Community Teams Update – 6/7th October

On a beautiful October weekend, most of Community teams played with the usual mixed results.

Our oldest team, the Under 16 Scorpions, showed great bouncebackability after two defeats to overcome Ise Lodge Hawks 3-1 at Kennedy’s. Rhys Day with a brace and David Brazier knocking in the goals.

For all our other 11-a-side teams, except the Under 15 Warriors who had a week off, it was Cup Fever. In the County Cup the Under 14 Rebels continued their good start to the season, hitting seven without reply against Ise Lodge. Reece Pickering hit a hat-trick, Ed Bates a brace and strikes from Will Bates and Aiden Payne completed the rout.

In the League Cup, the Under 13 Cosmos also scored seven, Sam Adams with a hat-trick and goals from Munashe Chirimuuta, Sam Fitzgerald, Jamie Laughton and Cameron Millard meaning F.C. Aztec Brave’s two goals were not enough.

The story wasn’t so bright for the Under 13 Galaxy, who lost 8-1 against Raunds Town, Callum Parker getting the Galaxy’s consolation, or the Under 15 Gladiators who only had a Sam Wilkins goal to show for a dogged performance against three-goal Great Doddington.

On to mini-soccer and the three Under 11 teams were without a game, leaving the Under Bisons and Rhinos to fly the flag on Sunday morning. The Bisons fought out a 2-2 score draw with Great Doddington, Corey O’Keefe and Harry Warren finding the net, the Rhino’s were up against Grammarians and although Tyler Maxwell scored, Grammarians managed six.

At Under 9 it was two wins, 3-2 for the Leopards over Great Doddington and 4-2 for the Tigers over Higham Chichele Colts.

The Under 8’s and both Under 7 teams played on Saturday against Volta F.C. and Irchester Romans teams.

Nice to see so many watching at Kennedys - although it was a great afternoon to watch footie!

I split my afternoon by standing between the pitches at Kennedys so I could see both u16 and u14 matches and then took in the second half of the u17s game at Finedon Rec against Moulton Fields, which they won impressively 5-1.

Community Teams Update – 13/14 October

After last week’s cup action it was back to the league for our 9 and 11-a-side teams this weekend.

The Under 13 Cosmos and Galaxy fought out a pulsating 4-4 draw at Kennedy’s. Devin with two, Bradley and Reece scoring for Galaxy with a brace from Sam and one from Jamie and an own goal earning Cosmos a point.

If the derby was game of the week, then there was plenty of action for the supporters at our matches.

At Under 7, the Dragons & Magic played against Irchester Romans Gladiators and Centurians, while at Under 8; the Rovers played Wellingborough Town Lions.

Onto Sunday and the Under 9 Leopards squeezed past Higham Chichele Colts 1-0, the Tigers weren’t so fortunate going down 0-4 to Higham Colts.

The Under 10 Bisons also played a Higham Colts, a got a bit of walloping, the final score being 0-11. The Rhinos had more to celebrate, posting their first win of the season, Charlie with two and Logan scoring the goals that gave them a 3-1 win over Doddington.

Moving onto Under 11 and 9-a-side, all three teams were in action. The Wasps posted the best result with goals from Finlay, Diarra and Cameron earning 3-3 draw against Grammarians. The Hornets scored their first goal through Ethan, but went down 1-5 to Corby S&L. The Bees also lost, 1-3 to Volta Juniors, Josh getting the consolation.

The Under 14’s had a week off.

At Under 15, it was again mixed fortunes. The Gladiators secured a fine win 5-3 over Wilby Youth, a Reece hat-trick and a brace from Sam seeing them home. The Warriors knocked in three thanks to a double from Jake and one from Jack, unfortunately Wellingborough Town managed a dozen.

The Under 16 game between AFC R&D and Uppingham Colts was abandoned due to a serious injury to one of our players. Everyone at AFC R&D/SRJFC wishes Chris a speedy recovery.
