Sheffield FC - Curtis Woodhouse

Post by Diamond Warrior »

As you're probably aware by now (It is mentioned in the 'Former-players' thread), Curtis Woodhouse is the new manager of Sheffield FC.

I don't know if any ideas have been branded about regarding who the first AFC R&D senior game will be against, but I was just considering it being against the oldest club in the world.

I mentioned it briefly to Curtis last night and he says it sounds good to him. It's not my area, so didn't want to get involved really, but I just felt their is a good recipe there for it to be historic with the old/new aspect.

I'm not sure Dave Albon will be too keen on this idea. ;)

We also have an opportunity to play Hallam FC who are the second oldest team with the oldest ground.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

We'll be talking about the 'Evesham Saga' for years to come whenever the name Curtis Woodhouse is mentioned. I reckon the club ought to steer well clear of him and Sheffield FC.

it's not about the past, it's the present and the future. Go for it -oldest club v newest or something of the like. I know Curtis said some things he now probably regrets when deciding to pursue his boxing dream, but he has also wished AFCR&D well, so lets see if he and his new club are ready for the challenge.

I don't think we should sniff at the chance to play the oldest team purely due to their manager. This is a great media opportunity due to its oldest-versus-newest twist. Really can't complain.
