Difficult to get too wound up having not seen the game but clearly it doesn't look great on the face of it. Loughborough will have been a bit of an unknown quantity given it depends what their intake is like as to how good their team will be, but nevertheless, we should still be winning matches like that even at this early stage. We certainly shouldn't be getting pumped in that manner.
As others have said the squad is still clearly lacking almost across the board. There is plenty of time of course but after all the off-season optimism, the notion that we were fighting fantastic, talented players off with a big stick is starting to look like fallacy.

To be fair to Burge. Peaks had an easy ride from Step 5 to 3. We were big(gish) fish in a small pool. At Step 3 Peaks held his own without truly threatening promotion but his time at Step 3 was hampered by Covid for two seasons. In appointing Burge too much was made of his time at R and D and his connections, which are yet to become apparent. If we were conceding 4 goals per game to MK, Cobblers and Luton I would not be concerned, but getting outplayed by step 4 and 5 teams is hard to take. We still only have 7 signed players, one of which can't play yet. I am concerned that Snedker and Tshikuna but yet go elsewhere. Burge has not yet taken on any loan players so that is probably his next move,.Tideishigh wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 10:16 pm Just a thought maybe Peaksey wasn’t as bad as people have made out he was & just maybe did club do enough to keep him

Not too sure peaks had an easy ride as you put it as yes sometimes bigger fish which meant most other teams raised games as wanted to beat the so called big fish but 2 promotions, play offs & a couple of cup wins is a good achievement plus left us 9 points clear & in a cup final before deciding to test himself elsewhere.looking like bully & collard going be a bigger miss then burge thought & fingers crossed players settle down get used to level we play at

Peaks had the benefit of Ty Deacon, who in fact scored a brace in his last match which coincided with Peaks last match in charge. The lost of Deacon and then Collard through injury was the two factors in us not finishing in 5th place than the change of manager.

I did think this a few weeks ago but didn't want to say as I knew it would get shot down, but yes I agree, head of performance/recruitment etc is all very well at the professional level with resources, but at this level with barely any resources to hand it does seem overly ambitious and experimental.Ricky330 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 9:22 pmAnybody else think we are trying to run before we can walk with all this "head of performance " "Head of recruitment " GPS vests?? Is Burge trying to be too professional at this level too soon??diamondsteve wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 9:06 pmThem GPS vests need bining . Need to get the basics in place first before we start with all of that performance nonsense.SimonHillington9 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 8:38 pm Analysis from the GPS vests are in, it’s says we were shit.
Disposed by students asif we were a pot noodle and a pint.
Didn’t make early moves now we left trialing fodder. And for all this will jones nonsense, he did f all on pitch for us and has now moved on, kidding ourselves about bring thru young players at this level, all about proven experience.
Absolutely agree we need BASICS in place 1st
I really want Burge to do well and he has my full support at this early stage, but I am concerned now after yesterday's result, we need players with experience at THIS level, ideally from this division, pre season or not, we cannot be losing like that to step 5 teams.

At least I’m trying to be positive, if we won the league next season you’d still find something to moan about.
