Fixture Congestion

Post by Trek »

Spare a thought for fellow fan-run club 1874Northwich - this is their fixture schedule starting tonight. Horrendous and just how are these players with full time jobs going to cope? Player welfare should be a priority. If there is ever a case for arranging more fixtures before the end of November then surely this is it.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday.

Starting tonight - away to @CityofLpoolFC.

Wow. That is a nightmare, you need three squads for that lot.

They actually had a very busy start to the season too - 7 games in August, 8 in September then 7 in October, so not much scope for many more games there, especially given they were sharing a stadium.

1874 Northwich’s problem has been compounded by a very successful FA Vase campaign - they were defeated in the Semi Finals after losing their two legged tie last Saturday. Issues with ground sharing havn’t helped but, I feel, there are too many minor cup competitions in early season that always get afforded priority over league matches which is a nonsense.

On another note the Dog & Duck pitch has couped very well with all the the wet weather thrown at it since Christmas and photos posted on twitter shows what a superb surface it now is, a testament to the work invested by us 2/3 years ago and the continued excellent groundsmanship carried out by Mark Panter. It has, of course, benefitted from only one senior club now using it and this is borne out by the Doughboys completing all their outstanding home UCL matches last Saturday against Kirby Muxloe.

Melton Town have posted the UCL season has been extended and they will play R & H on Saturday 5th May. Won’t happen at step 4 though due to playoffs. Makes sense though at steps 5 & 6, presume Northwich may have lost games last week so are now possible on 4+ a week through April.

Looks like Beaconsfield have a bit of a fixture problem. Of their 8 matches still to play two of them haven't yet been rescheduled (Egham & Hanwell).

Their one free Tuesday (17th) wont be any good because Egham are already playing and Hanwell are already playing twice that week (16th and 19th).

I cant see how they can avoid having to do two weeks of Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday before the end of the season unless the league manage to rejig a load of fixtures.

Now now Sussex, anyone would think they diddled you out of a couple of quid for a dodgy out of date programme.
