deduct points for game postponements

Post by sussexdiamond »

The following letter appeared in last sundays NLP. Any thoughts!!

" Sure this has been a very wet winter but I am not convinced that all clubs do all that is possible, either pre match or match day, to ensure games can proceed. A number of grounds are notorious for poor playing surfaces yet little or no action seemingly takes place to improve matters.

Nothing will change unless the league install rulings demanding improvements, in drainage for example.

Perhaps utilizing the points mechanism could be considered, where clubs fulfilling fixtures are rewarded with bonus points, or clubs who have, say, three or more games called off for waterlogged pitches, have points deducted".

Blame ground grading.

As long as you have the correct number of seats and standing, big enough changing rooms, different ways in and ways out your pitch can resemble the Somme or the Sahara and it won't matter.
