Another solid performance during which we never looked in any trouble or the result in any doubt & they are a side who beat Moneybags 3 days earlier. I was a bit surprised with the Rovers line up bit light in midfield & for me top heavy up front (or players who normally/prefer a more forward role) may have been an attempted master stroke to put out back 3 under pressure at the expense of relinquishing total control of the midfield which didn’t quite work. Guess we all knew Flamongo would score just disappointing the way we game it to him. 3 very good goals which if being critical should have been at least another couple. As stated earlier the 3rd did look much better in real time as the highlights show it closer to keeper than 1st thought & Conway could possibly have done better.
Always like to read the opponents match report & Kempstons was one of the best this season for honest reporting. Start by saying we could have been 3 up in 5 minutes followed by a great comment that scoring against us was a bit like chucking a hand granade into a hornets nest. They are a decent side who may well do us a few favours over the next few months, though they need some important injured players back In particular Sam Johnson. They may also need to sort the right back position out as Kyle had a stinker & Micky L’s performance only served to make Kyle look good.
Thought the ref got most decisions right but then his administration of punishment was dreadful, he had 3 poor / cynical fouls early on to offer a yellow card & set the bench mark, only to give the naughty boy chat to all & make a rod for his own back. Even Rovers report said the No 8 was lucky to stay on after he mistook Punter for ripe wheat and duly sythed him down. Good job Luke is an ex Olympic hurdler or he would have got hurt the amount of dreadful attempted challenges aimed at him in the 2nd half.
